Saints sign WR James Washington to one year deal (released on August 15) (1 Viewer)

seriously.. liking the moves we are making, or atleast attempting
See that's the thing, the effort is there. That's all I've ever asked for. Try to bring in NFL caliber players and then let's roll it out there and do the best the can with what we have. Under SP there didn't seem to be a sense of urgency at times. It was like he was eager to show what he could do with TQS and a variety pack of UDFAs.

we have 1 Pro Bowler at WR who hasn't played a full season since 2019, no TEs that really will move the needle besides Saints fans high on their potential, Chris Olave, another potential guy in Shaheed, and Kamara. Us signing James Washington is the reason why you just said we have the best pass catchers and he didn't even play last season!

Guys, I'm high on the potential of some of our guys too, but good lord are we bias acting like this core is the best group of pass catchers in the NFL.

And you can't even say the "I'm not just counting the top guys, I'm counting everyone". When a team has two top guys like Chase and Higgins, that is substantially a huge enough talent gap to counter the "depth" a team may have. And again, our depth isn't even that proven.

Peak fan optimism whether yall want to admit it or not lol
Foster Moreau was a well sought after ascending TE. Johnson has shown growth and is primed for a breakout season, and Tysom hill can take a quick screen to the house.

A Healthy MT is a top 3 WR in the NFL and Olave is poised to be a perennial pro-bowler.
If Thomas is that healthy there is not the same gap in talent that you seem to believe. Edwards is one season removed from 60 receptions, better production than almost anyone elses 3-4 receiver. then with Shaheed, Washington, and AT Perry, there is great size speed and talentin our WR room. We dont just have Kamara out of the backfield, we also have Jamaal Williams. Williams caught 122 of 155 targets for 961 yards during his time in Green Bay, he is a more than capable pass catcher.

The defenses will not be able to cover EVERYBODY. You are undervaluing the talent we have acquired.

Which WR3-WR5s on the other listed teams are more proven than MT, Washington, and Edwards to claim they’re better?

I didn’t declare that we have Thee Best. We have a better WR and TE Group than the Bengals, Eagles, and Dolphins. It’s more to depth than the top 2 WRs. You misunderstood @SWJJ post and automatically assumed stable of starting WRs.
No I cannot stress this enough so I’ll do it one more time: I knew exactly what he was talking about. He’s still wrong. But you guys are very very high on our offense and that’s good. Nothing wrong with that. I hope they prove y’all right.

Hubris was Sean's greatest flaw. He knew that Drew could get the job done with just about anyone and never really gave him top-flight weapons till MT.

You are already killing your own argument by saying “when healthy”. Mike hasn’t been healthy for three years dude. James hasn’t been healthy for two. You can’t play the “when healthy” card to make an argument

If that were the case, boy oh boy the pelicans would easily have one of the best teams in the NBA when Zion is healthy. Too bad the thing called “reality” gets in the way.

no sense in us talking in circles. who has "the best' discussions are always subjective. Let's just agree to disagree and go on with our lives.

Good friend is a huge Steelers fan. Said that Washington is a hard-nosed runner and isn't afraid to go across the middle. Said he makes great contested catches but isn't really a down field threat. Is fast but not really a burner like Olave and Shaheed. Said we would love his toughness. Sounds a lot like TQS already.

There was a time when I was very optimistic about his career. I thought he just needed a chance. He’s yet to blossom, but he has displayed some impressive skills at times. Hoping for the best. Sounds like a low risk, high reward kind of signing. I’m all for bringing competition to the WR room.
You were right, this is that vet WR you mentioned in the poll thread that we’d sign to compete. I didn’t think it would’ve been a productive receiver with upside. Figured it would’ve been another Jake Kumerow-ST type based on the receivers we already added before, during and after the draft. Glad it turned out to be Washington

There’s a reason you heard Dennis say yesterday MT had hardware removed from his foot a week ago and this happens today. I’m not the only one that doesn’t expect him to take a snap next year. You don’t bring in Edward’s, Washington and move up to draft a WR and add a priority free agent and essentially only lose Jarvis from the lineup. The restructuring was more about cap space than it was with the anticipation of him actually playing this year.
It’s interesting that Washington’s listed with the same number as MT on the roster.
16, 81, 82, 84, and 89 were already open

We have the best stable of pass catchers in the league.

Derek Carr is going to ball out and we will have an elite offense.

This season will be fun!
We said the same with Winston last year and it turned out to he a dud. LOL
Hope this season is the complete opposite from last in QB play, coaching and wins

I agree, I would much prefer our QB to last past week three this season, preferably into the postseason.
