Saints-Steelers Hall of Fame Game - August 5th (3 Viewers)

People need to stop acting like NFL network is no more cost than cable. For one, you need to get multiple recievers with satelite. Those who live in apartment complexes like mine can't even get a dish because it's not allowed. I pay very little for my basic cable. I don't have much money to begin with. I promise you, in my area, dish is more expensive. My cable package also comes with internet, and while there are some dish packages with satelite internet, they are much more expensive, much slower when it comes to latency, and once again, Satelite is more expensive than cable in my area.

Exactly. For some it's a better deal; for many of us it's significantly more expensive, and there are many who cannot get satellite at all. That's what makes it infuriating that the NFL Network has become so exclusive. I'm not sure who to blame anymore; the networks (NFL, Belo with the whole WWL thing, etc.) or the cable companies, but whoever is being greedy and hardheaded needs to get over it or they will continue to lose more and more people to satellite, and continue to tick off those of us who can't get satellite for various reasons.

I hope nobody's seriously considering buying a dish so they can see a pre-season game.

Wait, this isn't even pre-season -- it's PRE-pre-season.

Unless your name is Jason Fife Sr., I'd just wait for Week Two, when the really good, high-quality exhibition football begins.

Naw, never. I don't want to watch the games at home anyway; we'll head to Woodrows (assuming they'll get the preseason games this year) to watch the games with our fellow Houston Saints fans. It's more fun anyway.

I'm glad I have two cable companies who know what the people want to see. Not paying for NFL Network is just stupid and petty. Thank you GCI Cable (Alaska) and Comcast (Seattle) !

Saweet! ill be going to this game, its only 2 hours from here. Too bad its vs pittsburgh. I hate pittsburgh.

Anyone living up in this area and wants to go to the game, get your tix waaaay early. I remember a few years ago when the Saints and Colts [I think] played I tried to get tix a couple of weeks before thr game and they said get thea a year in advance.

Yeah, to garentee tix, get them now, but Ill lay money that you can pick some up just before the game, theres always someone selling tix on the street outside. There was for the Colts-Saints game yer talkin about, which I went to.

As far as the NFL network showing this game. I think its a fiarly dumb move by the NFL. I cant imagine them garnering a ton of revenue off this one. And I think it very uncool for the fans.

I hate to say it but cable will soon be a thing of the past. If you look and see what is going on they are having problems just carrying local networks. WWL is having to do last minute negotiations just so Cox will carry them. Cox would be hurt much more than WWL in the deal so it ends up being in Cox best intrest to carry WWL. This is just a microcosom of the situation. Unless you live like in an apartment or somewhere where you cannot put up a dish then what would you need cable for anyway when you think about it? I understand that some peoples landlords or apartment owners will not let them put up direcTv but if they did then cable would be history. There would be no reason to argue with cable companies anymore and everybody would be happpy. Everything about satellite seems much better than cable as far as programing because of Sunday Ticket and NFL network. Those are the big things but then you also don't have to put up with the cable companies bullying you about programming and pricing. I think this competition is great because finally cable has to get off there high horse. Remember when they were the only game in town? I know you do because the cable companies did not let us forget they were the only game in town. It is funny how things come around and go around.

Not a chance. Cable is just so much more convienient. I like to watch tv in bad weather, so dish is out. And it is just a matter of time before the government stops DirecTV from having their Football and now possably Baseball monopolies. The masses have cable, and the masses have spoken. Satelleite users don't even make up a third of the numbers of cable users. To say cable is a thing of the past is just rediculous. I have tried both by the way, I lived in a house for a year where cable wasn't an option so I was forced to go with Dish Network. After Comcast Digital Cable, Dish Network is like trading in a Porsche for a Kia.

I am soooo going to this game. The 5 hour drive will be well worth it. Especially given the Steelers-Saints relationship in our house.....

Right now I am watching a replay of the original broadcast of Super Bowl III ...Jets v.s. Colts on the NFL network. This is awesome because I was only 2 when this SB was played so anyone who doesn't have the NFL network because your dumb arse cable provider won't get it,,,,You HAVE to cancel that crap and get DirecTV NOW!!!!

I'm not sure where you are getting your statistics but in California the number of satellite subscribers has increased every year over the past 5 years while cable subscribers have decreased. You are right about one thing the masses have been speaking and they are going to run cable companies right into the ground.

You are correct my man....Sat on the rise....Cable companies soon to be out of business

Boring Summer

well, this means the Saints get to start training camp a week earlier. so, there will be one less week of a boring summer in Louisiana.

Exactly. Things are so boring when the Saints aren't doing anything. That just shows how much we need the Saints
