Saints to interview Aaron Glenn on Jan. 10th [Nick Underhill: Glenn probably gets an in person 2nd interview in a couple of weeks] (81 Viewers)

Probably.. but the collective morale was just so low with DA man.. would have been excruciating to witness play out lol.

Yep. Barring some massive exciting off-season free agent spending spree, future cap space be damned, and drafting a fun and exciting player like Jeanty, the team was on the brink of facing half empty/half visiting team fans in the Superdome each week for the foreseeable future.

My only issue w/ Glenn is he’s bringing over DAs scheme, and while on one end AG has proven he’s willing to blitz more than Allen, his defense still is more bend don’t break while forcing turnovers.

That type of defense needs to be complimented w/ an offense that’s capable of scoring quickly and regularly so that he other team has to pass the ball more.

FWIW Glen also started incorporating early down blitzes, something I wish DA/Woods would have done this year. It would have helped in the run game instead of letting the RBs attack the LOS and then attempting to corral the runner after they’ve picked up speed.

So I guess he’s innovated that defense, so I kind of just quelled my own thoughts. I’d be curious about who his OC will be.

The way Ben Johnson gets #’s in the run game is a thing of beauty. Didn’t see that type of scheming and design in Kubiak’s system despite Detroit also running Wide Zone concepts.

Glenn is warming on me though.

I dont think you can objectively look at this franchise and say Loomis isnt to blame for where its at. He is going to be here, all we can do is hope he can fix it. But this roster, starters and depth, cap situation, etc is all Loomis' doing.
I would say the HC and cap situation is his doing, but he doesn't pick the coaching staff or players. He's never done that while GM. I suppose you could say he's responsible for the roster through the HC choice, but he as a general rule doesn't have anything to do with choosing the coaching staff and roster.

And any coach worth his salt is going to expect to pick his own staff and rebuild the roster. I hope Loomis gives the coach all the tools he needs to run the team the way he wants to. If history is any indication, Loomis has no problem giving the coach full autonomy to run the team.

Glenn is the Def Coord for the Lions, and their defense is not ranked high, so how has Glenn proven himself? According to the link, they are 20th this year allowing 342 ypg. They were 19th in 2023, allowing 336 ypg, so they've slightly regressed.

When will people understand that stats and ranking are not the say all do all especially when it comes to if they will be a good HC or not. Payton's offensive ranking was not very good @ Dallas nor NYG. And maybe you should do some research and find out just how decimated the Lions defense was by injuries. SMH

Theres this as well. Im not real sure how Glenn came to be part of the HC landscape this year. His defenses havent been elite, and borderline average. It feels like Detroit is in a barnburner every week. They also have the most man games lost this season, so factor that in.
INJURIES INJURIES INJURIES ..... SMH

The fact you want numbers is silly. You go back around 30 years to name a few when the league and its rules were vastly different. Roethlisberger was developed by Cower more then Tomlin, but the point still stands. Name 1 franchise QB developed in the last 10 years by a defensive head coach. Name 1 defensive head coach that has gone to the superbowl in the last 10 years.

The simple truth is the trend is that offensive head coaches develop franchise QBs, and offensive head coaches win superbowls for the last 10 or so years. People who invest against the trend in stocks, crypto, real estate etc end up in bankruptcy far more often then not. The probabilities are the same here.

Never bet against the trend. Glenn coming here will likely not end up in the superbowl for his tenure here. If I gambled, thats where the smart money bet would be based on trends.
Are you serious???
John Fox, Pete Carroll, Belichick,Ron Rivera, Dan Quinn, While John Harbaugh was primarily a ST coach he did coach DBs

I'll find a lot more if I go back more than 10 yrs
