Saints to sign LB Kiko Alonso

Fresh legs. :hihi:. I guess with his familiarity with our defense, it was a pretty easy decision. He wasn't too shabby the last time he played for us. But I see your point. He'll have a lot of rust to knock off from being on the shelf for two years. My thinking is that's two years of tread that's still on the tires. Hopefully he's kept himself in good shape and 100% healthy.
Yeah, I'm down with you HOPING for those fresh legs. Keeping fingers crossed!

We needed depth and insurance at the position…. And he can play all 3 spots…. If he’s healthy it’s a good signing.
No doubt. All reward and literally no risk. There's a reason Kiko has been banging around the league for what seems like the last two decades. When he's healthy he can play. And even after all this time he's only 31. That's oldish for a LBer but it's not ancient. Wouldn't surprise me a bit if he still has some good football left. It would surprise me if he stayed healthy long enough to prove that though.

Solid signing. Will provide some depth and he is already familiar with team. Interestingly enough, remember Alonso was traded to the Niners for Kwon Alexander in 2020, now he is back with the Saints.

So they wait until Kwon is signed by the Jets, then go get Alonso, who hasn't played in forever because of injury? I mean I guess they have their reasons and all but from where I sit Kwon would have been the better choice.

I wonder what the cost difference is between the respective deals of Kwon and Alonso. On the surface, it surely seems like the former would have been preferable.

Not as wasted as Kikaha. At least Baun has had some decent special teams play. I just don't understand why they picked a pass rush specialist and tried to turn him into an off-ball LB.
Kikaha was such a let down. I remember his first few games for us he started off so well. Forcing a few fumbles and constantly being around the ball. But guy was riddled with injuries and fell off fast. We knew that when we drafted him though.

Baun has been a complete wasted pick in every way possible. He’s literally done nothing.

How many times did the Saints draft a player that played one position and switch him too another position and it always failed miserably. Square peg in a round hole syndrome.
