Saints to sign LB Kiko Alonso (1 Viewer)

Not as wasted as Kikaha. At least Baun has had some decent special teams play. I just don't understand why they picked a pass rush specialist and tried to turn him into an off-ball LB.
Baun is suffering from the same problem KiKaha suffered from. They both played in the wrong system. They are both 3-4 outside LBs, they need to be rushing the passer every play not worrying about coverages or being a DE.

I swear i dont remember this player.
I thought we traded him for the other LB made of glass, whose name I took forever to remember, Ellerbe, but according to Google I got my timelines wrong. We also dumped Stephone Anthony to the Dolphins. A long line of mediocre (I’m being generous) linebacker swaps between the Saints and Dolphins.

You should already know it was sarcasm. Could of had Kwon, to whom, was basically waiting for us..

Oh I know..I was being sarcastic. We could of have signed Kwon but a week later we sign a guy that hasn't played in 3 years.
He did not choose us

Getting back to changing players positions, does anyone remember when we drafted Martez Wilson? He was a middle linebacker that the Saints drafted in the 3rd round and they moved him to OLB and tried to use him as a rush linebacker. He was gone by the end of the second season. Never knew how well he would have done at MLB.

Ellerbe was awesome. I remember every game the question was, will Ellerbe play or not? haha Unfortunately, he was hurt more than he played, but when he played it really transformed our defense. The guy could play ball. He was just made of glass though. But 6 games a year, you were in for a treat.

Would have preferred Schobert. I think he is still available.
The Saints took a long hard look at Schobert, and decided to pass on him. Schobert either wanted too much money to be a depth LB, or the Saints weren’t that impressed by him.

The Saints are committed to Pete Werner as a starter moving forward… and I don’t understand why so many folks are disappointed by that!?!?
Werner is a stud! …and he’s only going to get better! Demario Davis LOVES Pete Werner… and that’s good enough for me.

I think this is just to stir some competition in camp and have another body out there. Werner is coming back from injury so Alonso is likely insurance in case Werner has any problems coming back. Plus, maybe Alonso might play a mentor role to Werner, maybe?

Because he's somehow smaller than two guys he's physically bigger than. Or something. And he didn't play at LSU.
