I don't understand how people are comfortable with losing good players.
It’s hard as a fan to see players we like leave but it’s finally time for the organization to embrace a deeper rebuild and that means getting high-priced talent out for draft capital.

It’s the only way the team can rebuild the pitiful depth and acquire some younger talent to fill spaces more cheaply than the north of 35 year old guys we have now.

I don’t think anyone is happy to see Latt leave as a player - but when you’re 2-7 and in cap hell, a top-flight corner is a luxury the Saints literally and figuratively can’t afford.

Good trade imo, we might actually have more then 7 draft picks if ML plays it right. who's next ?

If we can make one more trade to bag us another 4th or so, we need to seriously look at bundling them up and moving into the second.
Top 3 pick on Michigan's DL Mason Graham, and 2 second rounders, one for a WR and other for an EDGE.

Carr isn't going anywhere after this year, and the QB class is underwhelming anyway so might as well roll with him another year and start solidifying positions of need for the incoming young QB the following year, maybe Arch!!
I made the trade with the Commanders to be able to simulate on current picks, and if we were to keep current picks without trades. I got this.
How would everyone feel about this draft haul?

Not any better. Per over the cap, he will count $31.7 million in dead money next season.
All thanks to Mickey Loomis & his bonehead "kicking the can down the road" method. After Dennis Allen's firing, every GM's moves will be under a microscope from here on out.

The corner pick so early doesn't make much sense. I think after trading Lattimore we have Taylor and Kool-aid on the outside and Amadi at nickel. I think we get Adebo back on a 1 year prove it deal. And I want to see how Payton and Jean-Charles develop. We have bigger needs at...maybe every other position on the roster.

I think Kool Aid might be a better Safety going forward and you need a lot of depth at the position... but I see what you're saying.
Overall, not a bad draft class (on paper)

Moving a 5th or 6th to a team that has a dearth at a position for a proven depth players has a far higher chance of success

Sure if you have the cap to take the player on. We don't and haven't been able to do that in forever.

Lattimore was by far the best cornerback that the Saints ever drafted. So, it’s hard to see him go. That said, the restructure of his contract and the drafting of McKinstry seems like an actual long term plan for keeping the quality high and still beginning to improve the salary cap.

The compensation seems okay, unlike the fleecing the Saints usually experience when they trade. Let’s at least keep the picks and maybe accumulate even more. We need cheaper contracts to offset the dead money and expensive contracts that lie in our immediate future.
