Lattimore is easily replaceable. Our backfield didn’t miss a beat when he had his annual multigame absence. I hope we do trade him and make room for the younger talent. It’s now or never because he’s already getting old and his body is breaking down.

Hard disagree, he is only just about to turn 28, most elite CBs are very good into their early 30's.....I think you are vastly underestimating how difficult it is to find a truly elite cover corner.....

You don't "easily replace" the best CB the Saints have ever had.....And during that 7 game stretch we lost against the Rams and the Lions, the only teams we played in that stretch with good QB's, I'm willing to bet he would have made a difference in those games....

I'm afraid you are going to have to talk to Loomis about DA. And, I know this is blasphemy, but given that Tyrann and Demario have come out to back DA, maybe at least some of this, to the extent that Lattimore doesn't like DA, is on Lattimore? It could also just be residual from MT who was likely close to Lattimore given the Ohio State ties.

But, assuming Lattimore isn't demanding to get out or making trouble in the locker room, I don't really want to trade him, but if we aren't in contention at the trade deadline it will mean we aren't likely to be in contention for the next two years. At that point it makes sense to get some value for Lattimore while you can since a 28/29 year-old (next year) shut down CB is a luxury at re-tooling/soft rebuild team can't really afford.

If you are in contention this year, you keep him and hope you can make some noise in the playoffs. If not, it's probably time to move on and his value will be the highest while he is still 28 at the trade deadline.

Latt was just fine under the prior HC.....but I digress.....

I think folks are vastly underestimating his value to the team. Period....others disagree....

I think folks are overestimating how good our CB room is without him, neither Taylor nor Adebo have his level of cover skills and Kool Aid may turn out to be good/great, but right now, he's an unknown.....

I agree Lattimore is very valuable and the rest are either unknows at outside CB (Kool-Aid and Taylor) or guys you aren't sure can stay at the level (Adebo). So, ideally, you keep Lattimore. But, if you get a good offer and you aren't in contention for the division this year, you probably take it because he's 29 next year and a shut-down corner about to start his decline isn't really that useful for a rebuilding team. And Lattimore probably isn't going to be happy to stay on a rebuilding team when he likely only has a few years left to be a contributor on a team in contention. He'd probably rather move on in search of a ring or at least consistent playoff football.

And, I really think it's the lack of winning and being in contention that may be the issue for Lattimore more than DA himself. Lattimore hasn't really known what it's like to be on a losing team. tOSU always wins plenty games and the Saints won a lot of games until the last few years. So, he may be more frustrated with the lack fo winning than anything else.

But Latt has been coach by the same coach the entire time, Allen essential had most of the control of the DEF the entire time Latt been a Saint. I dont understand what Payton would have done differently so if their is friction I feel it would have just occurred, b/c Allen would have been the coach that help Latt be successful. I honestly just feel Latt is not living up to his contract. I LOVE Lattimore he is one of my favorite saints of all time I would hate to see him traded.

Nope, wrong, false.......Latt's had DA as a DC the entire time, for most of his career CSP was the HC, who established the culture that Latt was drafted into and thrived......IMO that culture has changed under DA the HC......what CSP would have done differently is have the Saints in the playoffs the last few years IMO.....I believe there are multiple veteran players who aren't thrilled that DA is the HC......and aren't happy when the Saints aren't in the playoffs.....especially as they are aging....hopefully that changes this year.....we will see.....

He's replaceable, and it would be in the best interest of the team to trade him before he loses any more value. I trust our defensensive coaches to get his replacement ready.

How is that false that DA coach Latt as def coordinator that's a fact and how did latt play well without the def coordinator putting him in position to succeed, that's literally the def coordinator job. Especially under payton. Everything u stated is an opinion Sean Payton didn't even make the playoffs his last year or the broncos last year

Thus the use of IMO (In My Opinion)......throughout my post.....

Truly great, competitive players don't like missing the playoffs and I never said DA wasn't a good DC, he is.....but the HC is very important also, on both sides of the ball, culture is very important and I think it's rather obvious there has been a change in that area since DA, others may disagree......

CSP's last year here we had a record number of starters missing due to injury/Covid, played 4 different QB's during the season, basically forfeited the game vs the Dolphins (shouldn't even have been played) and STILL should have made the playoffs were it not for the Lambs lying down the last game of the season....He was IMO coach of the year worthy his last year here....

Agree to disagree on Latt's value....

I don't think he is as easily replaceable as you think he is.....agree to disagree....

Am I correct in assuming that if Latt is moved it would likely be very soon after June 1?

I wouldn’t say easily replaceable. But he is replaceable and we already have that guy on the team. Alonte. He’s better on the outside and had to play slot last year just to get on the field. And with Latt missing and entire seasons worth of games the last 2 years, coupled with us drafting koolaid, it makes sense this could be the time to move on. He’s still in his prime so if he wants to stay by all means I’d keep him, but we’re not in a terrible position if he wants out.

Believing something doesn't make it accurate. It throws off your entire premise because there's nothing that confirms multiple players are unhappy. In fact, the complete oppposite keeps happening with multiple players coming out in defense of DA, and the crowd that has a disdain for Allen disregards this as political answers.

Lattimore lost 1 year under Payton, but I guess it only counts because he's lost two under DA.

Occam's Razor suggest that maybe, just maybe...the players are being honest about DA because that's what they are presenting. Everything doesn't have to be smoke and mirrors.

I never said it did, I believe i stated it was my opinion, which my premise is based on (which are what most premises are based on with this board).....I know there are folks that don't agree with it.....I also know there are players that will show support (or feign support) for their HC in almost any circumstance.....often up and until that coach is fired....

We will see what happens this year.....
