Sean Payton is showing how fast you can turn teams around (14 Viewers)

You really think Lutz hit a 55 yard field goal because he was afraid of Payton or because Payton told him to do his job?

Lots of kickers hit long field goals regardless if they have a good or bad coach. Grupe hit plenty long field goals under DA.
I absolutely believe Lutz responds well to harsh coaching. He said it himself.

SP was harsh on Lutz and he even Lutz admitted that, that type of harsh coaching works for him. And the results back it up. (Otherwise Denver would've cut him by now, we no how impatient SP is w/ kickers) Hayball also has shown improvement since his shake down. Rizzi is simply pushing the right buttons, as per the player, is all. Rizzi was quite nice to JH after he was benched, he rubbed his head. Why didnt he light him up? (probably bc JH would've gone to pieces or mybe not) Then Rattler took over right after.

I mean, Lutz had a really good preseason, maybe better than Grupe, the year we traded him so it's not like he was a bad kicker when he went to Denver. He was not good the year before due to injury which, along with his contract, is the only reason his job was really in jeopardy.

And Rizzi was his coach the year he had a bad year so I don't know. Maybe it's not all about harsh coaching?

Lutz is in Denver because he was becoming inconsistent. We thought we were upgrading by selecting Grupe. Now hes not inconsistent. Lutz said something like, "i was afraid to miss because of SP" or something like that.

Lutz had his share of miscues when he was paired with Payton here. And I misspoke on dates by a year, 2022.

I think he was joking.

Because you wouldn't have needed to restructure those contracts as much if you didnt have Carr's contract to make room for.

You were going to be paying a QB a similar salary anyway regardless of if it was Carr or not. And many of those restructures had more to do with kicking the can for many years to keep Brees, MT, Kamara, and Lattimore on the team.

I'm not a fan of the Carr signing, but I don't think it really made much difference in our cap situation or when when can get out of that cap situation.

Carr is 17th in the league in salary and is probably around that level in ability.

The biggest problem is he can’t stay healthy. We would be significantly better if he played a full season. We’re 1-8 in games he missed or got knocked out of. With the 1 being the Giants game where he left with less than 2mins to play and a lead.

If he were that good he’d still be here and we’d be in the playoffs. He wrecked this car and found another one. He went to a place that had the cap space to get rid of Wilson. Because of him we need to keep Carr just to get under the cap.
So much wrong with this post, its sort of mind boggling. First SP had been toying with leaving for years. He does not owe us anything to the Saints, he gave us 16 years and then wanted to move on, nothing wrong with that.

SP, did not wreck us, that's on Loomis. The FO controls the cap and after SP left he choose to keep kicking the can down the road, blaming the cap on SP is beyond stupid. Finally SP has nothing to do with signing of Carr, once again the strange mental gymnastics to blame SP for Carr is crazy. We never should have signed Carr in the first place and should have started the rebuild after SP left. So no its not his fault, Loomis is the one that got us in the current mess where in now.

Lutz was in a decline during the final three seasons with Payton here, enough so that it was a concern.

We had players make critical plays under Allen, who I’m not defending, just pointing out to better understand where you might be coming from.

If memory serves, Lutz was dealing with some injuries the last few years here......

Payton looks like he is having the same type of year the Saints had in 2006. Denver has beaten the weaker teams in the league and have lost to winning record teams. Beat Colts, Browns, Raiders twice, Falcons, Panthers, Bucs and Jets. The only team with a winning record Denver has beaten this year was Tampa Bay. Lost to Seattle, Steelers, Chargers twice, Ravens and Chiefs. Denver is 2-3 inside their division with a Chiefs game remaining on the schedule. This easier than usual schedule is because they were so bad last year. Let's give Payton a few more years to see if he truly turned Denver around or not. Bo Nix is inconsistent on long throws. His dump down passes are good. He needs to work on his timing with receivers going long. Even in the Saints game he missed several wide open receivers down field. They are in a tough Division with Herbert and Mahomes. I would love to see a Bronco Saints super bowl one day.
