Sharper not coming back? Per Jamie Dukes (1 Viewer)

Just now on Total Access he said that he doesn't think Sharper is coming back and the Saints are already looking elsewhere.

K'.

NewOrleansBoy says that he thinks Sharper will be coming back

It's a tough surgery to come back from late in a players career. I'm sure the saints have to be skeptical until it is proven that the knee will hold up. I would love to see him back in center field.
Don't forget his hyperbaric chamber. It's magic.

I think Sharper is coming back, but in fairness I think Sharper has been saying he is ready to go since he came out from under anesthesia -- not that I look down on him for that.

He might come back, but I'm not expecting him to be nearly as effective as he was last year.

Why do you feel this way? He should be fresh and ready to go from everything we have read.

As far as Dukes comments something tells me he isn't aware that Sharper isn't eligible to come back until Week 7 or whatever it is.

I'm guessing it's the recent signing of Giordano that makes him think that. I'm not buying it though.

I got to think giordano was signed for st ability as well as s ability since Reis done for year

Krushing in the post above hit it on the head. Tough surgery to comeback from.

IMO, Sharper on the field is the same as Bush on the field. They don't really have to do anything but be there. Sharper's presence disrupts offenses the way Bush's presence disrupts defenses. Sharper may or may not play quite as well as last year, only time will tell, but he's going to draw lot of attention and maybe give our D some extra oomph regardless. I know I'm looking foward to seeing him back!

I'll just throw this out there. There's a man I see every Wednesday on my job and we usually end up talking a little football, and he's been saying since the offseason that Sharper will never play football again.

I didn't believe him at the time but, he did say that he knows someone that has something to do with Sharper's medical situation, I didn't take note of exactly who he was talking about since I didn't believe him but, maybe someone who has something to do with the MRI's or something? not sure, but anyway, he swears that this guy told him that he didn't see how Sharper would ever play football again, and he was talking about from a medical standpoint.

I wouldn't have brought this up otherwise but since it's a topic, I just thought I would share this. I have my doubts about the guy who told me this because he's the type of guy who embellishes in knowing something no one else does, and since he's told me some off the wall stuff before that wasn't accurate, I assumed he was lying or at the very least, exaggerating about this for affect, but I'm getting curious now because if Sharper doesn't come back, it's gonna make me wonder if he was telling the truth all along.

Sharper has done a lot of work for NFL Network. I'm sure Dukes and Sharper know each other fairly well. Just throwing that out there.

Interesting...When I clicked on the thread and read the first post...I was/ am concerned....I think Jamie Dukes is usually spot on.

Someone said that about Drew Brees, and we gladly see how that turned out! I can't say if your friend is right or wrong, but as long as Sharper hasn't been released, I'm still hoping. And if it is true, what a way to go out! On the very tip top of your game!

I don't want to put cold water on this Sharper thing but Jenkins has done a fairly decent job in Sharper's absence. Do we cast Jenkins to the side? MJ is not in Sharper's league yet but he's younger and certainly more athletic.

Heck, no we don't cast Jenkins aside. He's got youth on his side and, as you said, athleticism. Between the two of them we may have the best Safety ever to play the game! :) But I do believe Sharper knows his playing days are waning. And if he is unselfish enough to pass some of the wisdom along, well, wow! Plus, we may need him very soon if Sharper's knee doesn't hold up.

IMO, the more he plays, the better he plays. He's getting smarter, more confident, more aggressive. While we miss Sharpers big play ability, healthy or not, his return is still weeks away. We can't wait that long.

MJ came close to making the big play a few times last week. Here's to him making it happen Sunday! :9:
