Sherman Signs Record Deal (5 Viewers)

I will say the money is well deserved. Great player, great story, good guy, intelligent.

I'm also happy to see them spend that cap.

It doesn't bother me that they're rivals now, I think he deserves the pay day. It's not like he's Matt Ryan making record money....lol.

He and Thomas are why that backfield is so feared.
I would never argue that. I think he is a fantastic football player. I just don't care for him as a person. He doesn't portray the image I would want my son to look up to, and I think that's a big part of being in the NFL. Ultimately, the fans pay that salary. It's my personal opinion that players have a responsibility to those fans to set a good example.

Personally, i disagree with that. As a fan i'd pay to see a good game and excellent players, i don't care if a player is the worst person of the world as long as he's not "oj simpson" kind of bad, of course. I greatly dislike manziel, and by greatly i mean a lot, but i'd still watch his games if he was electrifying.

And well i'm 24 and have no kids yet thankfully, but i'd never want any kid of mine to look up to any sports player for anything other than how to stay fit (and not even that in some sports, football included).

The seachickens should be almost out of money now. Russell Wilson is wondering where they are going to get the money to pay him from.
From cutting a bunch of veterans and restructuring deals. You'd think that Saints fans would understand how this stuff works by now.

I would say something like "great, now they'll be in cap hell in a few years", but other teams' fans having been saying that about us for years and we're just fine. Eventually they'll have to pay Russell Wilson but for now...:jpshakehead:

Seattle may regret that if the NFL starts calling all the holds they get away with.

I'm not sure how good Sherman would be without holding.

We aren't the only team to complain about them getting away with it. Even analysts mention it.

So their big three will kill their cap. They should have kept only 2 out of the 3 and Russell Wilson should be included. Who would you keep between Sherman and Thomas?

Terrible idea.
They have the best Safety, the best CB, and a SB winning/high character/good QB. Why would they only want to keep only 2? Those guys earned every penny of those contracts.

Here's how it works. Next year they will extend Russell Wilson. He will play 2015 under his rookie deal and his extension will kick in for 2016. In 2016 Zach Miller, Brandon Mebane and Marshawn Lynch come off the books. Harvin's dead money starts to drop too. Okung is also up for 2016. They will draft an OT this year to groom in case Okung wants too much considering his injury history. The cap will increase and they will retain their core while shedding aging vets.

We have been doing this for a while. They will be fine cap wise as long as they don't bomb on big contracts. I do not see Richard Sherman's skills decreasing as he does not rely on speed.

Ya it just makes me think the NFL is rigged and wanted Seattle to win this year.

They paid the man because he deserved it! Bottom line... One of... if not the BEST CB(s) in the NFL and has backed up everything that comes out of his mouth! Don't care for his antics after that last game against SF but I have MAD respect for his game abilities.

Heard rumblings about this being Lynch's last year. Wouldn't be shocked if it is.

You guys are going to be so angry when Seattle keeps drafting well in the middle and later rounds every year and we are able to keep setting deadwood adrift after each season to avoid running into cap problems.

Richard Sherman is my favorite player in the entire league and second place isn't even close. GO HAWKS!
