Sherman Signs Record Deal (4 Viewers)

I for one am happy for the guy. I'm not a fan of the way he is A TAD BIT overly arrogant, but I did hear him do an interview after the playoff game against the Saints, and he had nothing but good and respectful things to say about the Saints. Bottom line is that the guy is a competitor and seems to be the type of player that works his butt off. I can root for a guy like that, but I can definitely see why so many people dislike him.

This makes me very happy. Russell Wilson is going to command a contract bigger than Brees. It's just how contracts work, the next one always has to beat the previous ones. Meanwhile, they'll still be paying Sherman and Thomas. Even if they are able to give Wilson what he'll command, they're going to start struggling to hold on to key offensive linemen, linebackers, or other positions. It'll start to show in depth as well. As long as they can keep knocking it out of the park in scouting, they've got a shot. That's hard to do, though.

i'd never want any kid of mine to look up to any sports player for anything other than how to stay fit (and not even that in some sports, football included).

What's wrong with kids (and adults too) looking up to guys like Brees, Colston, Gleason, Pierre Thomas, Thomas Morstead, Russell Wilson etc etc?? They inspire not only with their performance, but also in the classy way they handle themselves on and off the field. I'd be proud for my son to emulate any of them.

BTW, anybody hear Sherman's interview on Sirius? On his motivation (paraphrasing, but its very close) "I'm motivated to win, motivated to be the best, and motivated to prove people wrong SO THAT I CAN TALK CRAP ABOUT THE PEOPLE WHO I PROVED WRONG."

Okaaay...

Also they were talking about his contract in a very matter of fact way, very congratulatory and kissing his butt, and he had to find some way to bring the "haters gon' hate" dynamic into it. "yeah there's some things people don't know about my contract, but you can't explain it to the ignorant."

Whatever Richard, whatever.

damn, overpaid and overrated. Would not be as good if he had any QB's in his division imo. They should have at least waited to see if the NFL would crack down on his contact this year lol what am I talking about? Drain that cap! Drain that CAP!

Uhh, Seattle's secondary shut down Brees twice last season or have you forgotten already?

i woudlnt call 300 yards in the second game shut down. but the 55% completion rating is lower than his usual.

the first game they played they ate our lunch on offense and defense.

SEA shut him down in the first half (5 of 12 for 34 yds) and built a 16 point lead keeping us off the board until the 4th.

Problem for them is that they can pay Thomas, Sherman, Wilson but what about
Okung, KJ Wright, Baldwin, Avril, Malcolm Smith, and can they keep Harvin?
Lynch will be 29, will they reup him?

If they keep drafting these superstars in the middle rounds it won't matter. They can let them leave, receive a ton of comp picks and re-load.

I hate Seattle.

well according to John Clayton

Sounds about right. The new deal for Sherman is an extension that doesn't change his salary for this year but does give him a signing bonus now.

I am not going to read through 6 pages, but I can't be the only one thinking this was a music deal.
