Should have kept Jameis (3 Viewers)

Gurantee we are in the playoffs if he is our QB.
We wouldn’t be tied to a huge contract (Carr).
The media seems to love Winston as much as most Saints fans. His attitude is infectious, and just flat out positive. After these past few weeks, I think JW may have earned another starting job. Good for him!

In an Alternativa world Winston and Payton would've been successful. JW would've gotten a big money bag to stay.

But Alas, this is life

SSF would not have survived Jameis’ game-clinching pick-sixes.

People say they want Jameis only because it appears his contract might have been cheaper. But the threads after any loss with Jameis as Saints QB1 would be worse than the Allen/Carr threads across 17 games.

I am curious if the Brown's fan share your feelings. Hope someone goes to their forum and give us an update on their takes. Winston has never been to the playoffs as a starter for any team.

Many people always forgets the slot machine that is Jameis Winston.

He’ll have a game or two where the throws for over 300 yards and a few TDs, and we get the inevitable threads here stating JW was the answer all along.

Then he’ll have the multiple game losing INT outing that reminds everyone why he isn’t a starting QB.

Winston will end up somewhere else next season, he’ll be pressed into service as the back-up, his first game will be a 300 yard 2-3 TD effort, and we’ll all meet back in a similar thread to this again.

Reminds a little of Jim Everett with the Rams . He can throws some nice balls and then comes the bone headed ones. Dances around the pocket always thinking someone is going to hit him.

Jameis is totally the QB that throws for 497 yards but also has two pick 6s for 167 yards. He's a top level backup because he can come in and have that great game at any time, but he can also come in and throw 3 picks at any time. He's just too inconsistent to be a starter, but I think his ability to just sling it and have great game is valuable as a backup. Carr doesn't win you any games and he doesn't lose you many on his own. Jameis can win you a few games on his own but he is also going to lose you several games on his own.

But you have to love Jameis because of things like this:

Posted a version of this in the wrong thread. Thought I'd bring it here.

When Jameis threw the pick 6's tonight, I had an "aha" moment (that might not actually be that, but worth throwing out for debate). Jameis is the Bret Favre of bad teams. I looked up some stats before posting, I was curious how their per game stats matched up.

We all know about Favre's Superbowl win and 3 MVPs. He was a "gunslinger", never saw a pass his arm didn't think it could complete. He played for a great franchise and benefited greatly. Bret's career record is 199-123. He completed 62% of his passes, averaging 33 passes per game played. During this time he averaged 1.69 TDs and 1.12 INT's per games played.

Jameis has thrown some fastballs, bombs and of three picks tonight. It's kind of a microcosm of who he is. Jameis has played for mostly bad teams, his record is 36-49. He has completed 61% of his passes and averaged 30 passes per game played. During this time he has averaged 1.45 TDs and 1 INT per game played.

I'll stick with my aha. Jameis' game resembles the way Favre played. I'm not making an argument that Jameis is Favre. But watching him play makes me think of John Madden's favorite QB.

Tonight we got the full Jameis experience. 4 TDs, 2 pick sixes (3 picks overall), 497 passing yards, loss.
