Should have kept Jameis (1 Viewer)

For all of you making fun of keeping Jameis and saving 30 million dollars a year......

Here's a fact:

Jameis win percentage as a starter 43%
Derek Carr win percentage as a starter 45%

Yeah there is no difference between the two. They are both average, one is just more highly paid.

I agree with this. I'm not finding Derek Carr's play to be distinguishable from Winston.

Not understanding the logic there....he threw a few, what should have been picks, and came within a butterfingers chance at the game sealing one on the go ahead drive.

It's opinions like that, that make me SUPER glad it's someone else controlling what happens with this team, and NOT it's fanbase. Wow....

Yes, because things are going so well.....NOT.....

I am 💯 that he is without doubt Jameis Winston. First off no one but the actual player would know some of the stuff he is saying. We all follow the game but he knows specific throws and what the read consepts were on the play. Not to mention the hyper specific stats he is using.
Appreciate the shoutout confirming I know ball....lol

Inquiring minds would like to know how that is working out for us....

Could have had Jameis plus 20 mil in oline and receiving help

Instead we got Carr with nobody to throw to and nobody to blockf or him. Winston won them the game vs the Ravens.

Then again, we almost got Watson so could be worse
People hate Jameis on here and would rather Nathan peterman to start instead. Smh

That's the part that kills me...they complain about what he did and boast about how much better DC is.....but where are the results. Through 11 games last season he had 10 TDs...10 in 11 games...mid as hell yet he got paid 4x as much.

no since in crying over spilled milk but gd the double standard applied is obvious as hell. Probably part of the reason why you see so much discontent in the LR

DC isn't light years better than Jameis by any stretch....but DA was never going to play Jameis for.....reasons......

That said I think DC is the least of our problems, he was one of the best "bridge" option QBs available at the time....

The part that bothered me most was it all gave off the appearance that he'd rather lose (and he did) with Dalton than possibly win with Winston.

What's done is done and I agree that Carr is not the future...but it sucks that we're tied to "not the future" for the foreseeable future

Welcome to purgatory peeps!

I think Carr may be a bit better than Winston but mostly just because Carr does not throw as many YOLO balls as Winston. But Winston also makes some off schedule plays that Carr can't so it's close to a wash.

Personally I would have kept Winston and looked for a young QB in the draft while Winston was starting. If you can reign in Winston's dumb throws he has a lot of talent to be good. Payton was on his way to doing it but who knows if Winston would have continued on that path.

But this notion that some have (not you) that Winston was going to keep playing for backup money is absurd. If he was brought back as the starter instead of Carr, he likely would have wanted a contract similar to Carr. Not that I blame him. A starting QB should get paid like a starting QB. And even if he signed on a backup level deal if he any success they were going to have to give him a Carr/Mayfield level deal.

I’m excited to see what Winston does for the rest of the season. A 10-game sample size should answer most peoples “what if” questions. You can watch videos of NFL personnel talk about Winston's hitting the point on his drops and great release timing unlike Watson. The technique and physical skills are there; so is the knowledge of who to go to. It's always been the "in the moment" decision making. I think Winston knows this:

Jameis would be making starters’ money instead of prove-it money by now.

He was afraid of Winston which is why he never turned back to him. First off the way he handled “benching” Winston was chicken poop. He was hurt no doubt so we switched to Dalton as we should have for a couple of weeks maybe even 3, but when Andy went pick machine before the half vs. the Cardinals in AZ that would have been a good time to switch back, instead we get his catch phrase, I told him to “keep doing what your doing”.

He picked Andy because he figured he would play the position like a 71 year old grandmaw behind the wheel of a car. Slow, steady and safe was his plan with Dalton.

After the loss in Arizona we were sitting at 2-5. If Winston gets back in and goes off DA looks like a moron. So we “keep doing what we are doing” and we keep loosing. That Ravens loss in the dome where we just couldn’t get anything going along with the game vs. the Steelers was really the point of no return Andy was a dud. He turned to him because he was “safe” but in that 4 week stretch he threw 6 picks.

Winston got a raw deal that year. Saints fans have been getting a raw deal since he took over as head coach.

I had a very strong feeling then that DA didn't have what it took to be a HC....and TBH after that absolute disaster of a last game I wanted him gone then.....
