So How Attractive is the Saints HC Job? (2 Viewers)

I like to think any NFL coaching position is an easy sell. Who wouldn't want to have a job that only 32 other people in the world have? Then.....I wonder if our position isn't one that after someone takes the job they just know they were lied to in the interview.

I'm sorry but talent is a major factor. You need playmakers on both sides in the NFL and don't have many/if any.

Taysom is 34 coming off a serious potential career ending if not altering injury.
Olave is our only receiver and he's coming off two concussions. He's one hit away from being out of the league.
AK is our best playmaker but he's a 30 year old RB.
Demario is old and well past his prime.
Cam is likely going to retire/ should retire.

AND our cap situation is the worse in the league.

Any coach that signs as HC for a new team, 99.9% of the time, the vacancy was a result of a HC being fired, so they have to know they already are going into a suboptimal situation.

The right coaching can make playmakers of non-playmakers.

ESPN has reported that Ben Johnson will be Chicago's next HC and is seeking to hire DA as the DC and Rizzi as Special Teams Coach. If that happens, I think you can see what coaches think of the Saints as an organization.

Washington proved after many years of incompetence, you need just one competent off season to change your fortunes. The Bengals, Rams, Chiefs are also some other teams that turned it around quickly after years of ineptitude
Yep and its going to take a Commanders overhaul to get the Saints back in business. Have to get rid of the "keeping bad coaches/front office members for the sake of loyalty over getting the right people for the job" out of the building. Mickey Loomis, Khai Harley, Jeff Ireland, Randy Mueller are all out of touch old failed GM's and front office money managers that will not be able to get this ship right.

Unfortunately, we are not going to get that level of needed FO change because Mick's arrogance will not allow him to move away from the wheel. That's why I think he'll choose a safe choice like McCarthy.

Saints are the worst or 2nd worst Heading Coaching job this cycle.

This is being proven out. Glenn chose the Jets. I kept reading how their ownership made that a worse job than the Saints. Clearly not.

Ok. What if the Saints job sucks? There are only a few jobs available. So anyone that wants a head coaching job needs to step up. I still think this question is overated. You have to find someone who is excited to join the team to build it and bring success.

As fans we often underestimate the importance of stability. True, we have a weak roster and a horrible cap situation, but we have a stable front office that is patient to a fault and will get you anything you want even if it costs you later. Most young coaches just want time to implement their vision without fear of getting fired after a few lean years. What other job opening offers that? Not one.

Yet how will it look if the saints land McCarthy who would be objectively the best hire yet in terms of skins on the wall?

It certainly wouldn’t be a bad look for an organization to hire a former SB winning coach who has over 40 wins the last 4 years.

The objective best hire that no other organization seems to be in a rush to hire. What do we know that no one else does?
