So, Ya'll are Telling Me this Offense Is Built Around Taysom Hill? (1 Viewer)

The offense through first 2 weeks did not go through Hill...Hill had 2 catches for 2 yards and TBH I didn't even know he got hurt in the Cowboys game. Thats how effective the offense is/was without him. His absense was imperceptible.
The offense goes through the offensive line on every down, but they never get any catches or yards.

The offense doesn't "go through Hill," but him being on the field contributes to the offense and other players getting catches and yards. He either directly contributes to other players getting yards and catches by blocking and drawing coverage. He indirectly benefits the entire offense, because defenses are never quite sure what he'll do which causes them to be more reactive instead of attacking for a split second. In a zone blocking and timing based offense, that split second of hesitation gives the offense a big advantage.

The offense can be successful without Hill, but him being on the field gives the entire offense an advantage that makes things easier for the entire offense. The Saints coaches and players have said so themselves.

The Eagles played smart, they sat on Kamara, Olave and Shaheed. It worked well. No one else was able to step.up.
The eagles got lucky with McCoy and Ruiz and Hill and they're freaking good.

They were under performing and got it together yesterday and without us being able to impose our running game it made us one dimensional.

And, to the point of the OP, yes, this offense is designed to utilize the freak we have in #7. Had he played yesterday the defense would not have been able to tee off on the line like they did.

This exactly.

Hill is an extra RB. He is also an extra QB. He is a TE and a freaking beast of a lineman all rolled into one jersey.

He makes what he makes for a reason and yesterday was an example.

When he's on the field it's 12 on 11 and our 12th guy plays every position on offense and likely the best hope of a tackle in the event of a turnover. His worth cannot be overstated.

I didn’t think Kubiak did a good job making adjustments and I don’t think we’re deep enough at RB if we’re going to depend this much on the running game.

I don't think RB depth was at all a factor.

WE're not deep or particularly good at OL so when the mask Kubiak has put on our marginal OL gets it's best player out you have to dance with the girls that brung ya.

All players don't have the same impact on a game. It's not at all a crutch. Center on this team is the second most important position because of what he does and is the most difficult to replace unless you have a very experienced backup. We simply don't have someone who can do it remotely as well as he does at this point. It comes with the territory, pretty much all offenses losing their center are going to see a significant drop-off in OL play.

We didn't make zero moves though. Maybe you slept through the off-season,
Name the moves we made then, not listing the udfa and washed up scrubs signed?

Even I had slept through the off season, it wouldn’t not have mattered, the saints did the same thing they did the last few seasons, nothing. the saints did not try and trade for a serviceable olineman, they did not try and sign a serviceable free agent olineman.

You are correct that we don’t have anyone that can remotely do as well as he does. Reason, see above. Sorry, but Carr needs to pick up the slack and call protections. If we have 2 additional backups for the most important position, QB, then we should have a serviceable backup center that can swing to other parts of the line.

Unless you count the most important stat of 'em all.

The Saints averaged 45.5 points in the 1st two games in which Hill played.

The Saints averaged 12 points in the one game Hill didn't play.

You moved the goal posts. You said zero moves.

Your hyperbole is showing.
the saints did not try and trade for a serviceable olineman,
How do you know that? You work in the front office? Somehow, I doubt that.
they did not try and sign a serviceable free agent olineman.
Ditto my last question.

That's not his job in this offense.

They don't grow on trees. Every team is thin in at least one position. Being thin at center certainly isn't ideal. But to think the front office isn't aware or concerned about this is silly.

Depending on Hill to be healthy at his age is dangerous in my opinion.

Agreed, I can't believe this is the case.....He's 34, that would be total insanity....they need to start working in Mims, at least until Kendre is healthy.....Williams runs hard but doesn't have the quickness to be effective and only gets yards when he is untouched past the LOS.....

I know he provides a lot when he's out there, but we can't turn to someone else when he's injured.

Losing McCoy was huge, but still.

At his age, it's going to be important to keep him healthy.
He's like a cog in a wheel. When someone important to the team is missing and we get to that cog you skip a beat. We had 2 important cogs missing Sunday. (Just my 2 cents)

To be fair, we probably didn’t have enough $$$ to sign a starting caliber OL. You can only kick the can so far before hitting the proverbial brick wall.

Among the skill players he's the only bully this offense has. Kamara can break arm tackles using angles and balance, but if someone can get at least half their weight on him 9/10 times the play ends there. Jamal Williams does not break any tackle. They don't give the ball to Prentice at all in short yardage.

Exactly right. When Hill was at fullback the first two weeks it totally leaves the defense guessing. With Hill out we had Prentis out there in his traditional fullback role. The Eagles were certainly not worried about Adam Prentis getting the ball.
