Some Steelers fans pushing for Tomlin’s firing (1 Viewer)

Well, he probably shouldn't of been drafted where he was. That's the only bad thing I see out of the handling of KP via Pittsburg.
I agree they drafted him too high but he is good enough to be the backup QB on one of the best teams in the NFC but he isn't good enough to keep around more than 2 years on the Steelers...

Just a bad decision by the Steelers...

Both of the QB's are UFA next year and I don't see Fields coming back...
R. Wilson best years are behind him. He has good games and then bad games now.
He really isn't very consistent at this stage of his career.

I'd drive to Pittsburgh to help him pack and drive him down here myself!

I hear Steelers fans are pushing for Tomlin to be fired if things go bad and they fall short again.

I know its unlikely.. but if Tomlin were to be fired\resign. I dont see how he wouldnt be #1 on our list... defensive coach or not.
Zero chance they fire him. The fact that he’s in such a good position with a boom or bust QB like Wilson speaks volumes

Pickett Stats line:

14/24 (58%) 143 yards 1 TD 1 INT 3 sacks

With a great O-line and tons of offensive weapons.

that's pedestrian at best.
Not saying it was great, but they still scored 33 points. 21 in the first quarter after Hurts went down. That said Barkley did a lot of the lifting so Pickett didn't need to do too much.

Having Hurts probably gets them enough to win, but still would have been fairly close.

Mike Tomlin just signed a 3 year contract extension in June 2024.

Steelers are 10-6 (L3) with a clinched playoff berth. They’ll likely play the wildcard round against the Texans who are struggling.
Then lose to the Chiefs or Ravens

Yea, lemme get Tomlin and Teddy B next season please.

Just as long as he doesn't bring that 1930's offense with him.
Boy, that would eat DA up if Arthur Smith ended up here.
Wait! What am I saying?! That would be a coronary and a deal killer for everybody on this forum! :ROFLMAO:

I've said this about our fanbase earlier this year, losing brings out the stupidity in some fans. They come on here fresh off their Madden 25 season and think it translates to real life, it doesn't.

Falling short to Mahome's is frustrating. As it was with Brady. As it was with Jordan. As it was with Russell. Hard to beat the GOAT. Tomlin is not going to be fired.

The definition of don't know what you got until it's gone. The Steelers have no business having a winning record this year.
Reminds me of the Bears firing Lovie Smith after a 10-6 season. They've only had 2 winning seasons since. Five seasons with 6 or less wins. Smith had a few losing seasons, but he kept the Bears competitive with Grossman/Orton/Cutler at QB in an era where Adrian Peterson, Farve.. and eventually Both Rodgers and Farve were playing for division rivals.

That's part of the problem and sort of SWJJ's point in that Pickett mostly relied on keeping the Eagles offense around Barkley and not being enough of a potent, effective offensive weapon in his own right akin to Jalen Hurts that would keep Wash.'s defense off-balanced, unfocused, and uncertain. They werent afraid or worried about Kenny Pickett's talents as a QB defeating them so they knew they could focus mostly around stopping Saquon.

And it worked even if Commanders only scored the go-ahead TD with .09 seconds left, it's very possible their not in that position if Hurts doesn't suffer a pretty nasty concussion in the first quarter that might keep him out this week too vs. Dallas.

As a semi-local, I can tell you Steelers fans go through this almost every year where they aren't a 1 seed or win the Super Bowl. I'm not sure what they think another head coach is going to do differently but their team is what their team is - a pretty good team who will probably see their season end Divisional weekend.

As great as Mahomes and Kansas City have been since 2018 and they have the SB appearances and wins to prove it, their not necessarily unbeatable. Buffalo proved that about a month ago, albeit in Buffalo but the Bills are the AFC's 2nd best team and IMHO, talent-wise their not too far behind Chiefs. Sean McDermott isn't on Andy Reid's level but any given Sunday applies in the post-season. Baltimore has drastically improved this year in the running game and offensive explosiveness with acquiring Derrick Henry. He brings dimension to an offense that was previously mainly centered around Lamar Jackson.

One AFC team, IMHO, that is currently very good with a great Pro Bowl QB in Herbert, a good defense that has a lot of potential but could be SB contenders is the Chargers. If they had a CMC, Josh Jacobs or Barkley--styled RB that would add extra focus, dimension and power to their offense, they'd probably have 2-3 more wins right now and be a decent threat to unseat Kansas City in the AFC West. Austin Exeler was a underrated, hard-working, tireless over-achiever and did a very good job for years but he wasnt powerful, duel-purpose existential threat that a healthy CMC, Josh Jacobs or even Jonathan Taylor presents to opposing defenses.
