Sources: Dennis Allen’s recent mishandling of Kendre Miller’s injury created internal frustration, Miller currently healthy but can’t play (1 Viewer)

Miller, wonder how many others. Winston last year the Perry hand deal this year right off the cuff. Lot of dogs in that house but how many actually injured. Div 2 NCAA would be a compliment.

Is it actually legal in NFL rules to put a none injured player on IR?
All we need is an investigation that we get punished for
Technically he was injured as he tweaked his hamstring. Just not a type of injury you imagine putting someone on IR. The biggest issue is we are in a failing season with so much of your other talented players injured you would think we would want to have more players available. It does sound sus in the situation why would you put players on IR who can play. BIG BUT here I feel Payton used to do this with rookies he liked but were not talented, at the time, to crack the top 53 but that was mostly at the beginning of the season not when were 2-7 against a division opponent.

Just from a fan viewpoint, it does seem that some players (or their actions) got under DA's skin and he wouldn't play them. I think back to Jimmy Graham last year (or the year before?) after his incident out in California. DA just would not play him for about the next four or five games even though he was healthy and we needed him. Now Kendre Miller. I'm sure I'm forgetting others.

Certainly makes you wonder if he has been taking liberties and being a little “extra” with our injury reports for self-preservation purposes, doesn’t it?

Very odd reports coming out here, between this and the whole “Optional warm up time” story.

Can you explain or link the “optional warm up time” please.

Or people that weren’t placed on IR and should have been
This is a big one. One of the worst issues (and there was a lot) is the complete mismanagement of the IR system. But remember the head coach isn’t the only one involved in that process. That’s more on someone like Mickey Loomis too. Shows you just how deep the mismanagement goes.

The player can seek an injury settlement if they believe they will be ready to play sooner than IR would allow, and they believe getting on the field sooner is both possible and to their benefit. I don't expect it to happen here.

Here's Rizzi explaining how they're handling it now, versus how it had been done previously. @10:28, he says it used to be "voluntary".

Wouldn't an NFL player have enough sense to warm up without having to be told? They aren't school kids. I guess it falls under the heading of being undisciplined and a coaching staff that allows it, not just the head coach but everyone of them involved on practice days.

This is a symptom of a bigger problem. The Saints have been an organization that has mishandled injuries for many years with many different players. I am sure some instances have been in a grey area of blame on the Saints and the player, but they are bad at managing injuries. They seem to manage injuries like talent evaluation (meaning they do it with little consideration or proactivity) they struggle to be consistent and vigilant in very important team areas.

I think I’m going to let this play out a bit before I lean one way or the other. I don’t know the ends and outs or rules governing IR status but…. I do believe teams have stashed players with an IR designation to protect them from being snatched from the practice squad.

Whatever the case, I wouldn’t want the league office looking into this situation only to punish the team with lost draft picks.
