Spider-Man: No Way Home (Now all webbed up with SPOILERS) (3 Viewers)

This is totally inside baseball, but if you watch the credits there is this hilariously self aggrandizing credit for producer Avi Arad basically calling him a visionary who made everything that has happened with these movies possible.

Arad was an exec for Toy Biz who at one time were the owners of Marvel, then worked his way into the film production side of things with the pre MCU Marvel movies. Feige worked for him but totally ousted him when he got power, as Arad has a reputation for being a delusional weirdo and not great guy. He's still with Sony and produces on most of the Spider Man projects. And now apparently gives himself credits in movies telling everyone how he's the best and the one really responsible for all this.

The kids and I have not been to the movies since Covid hit, but no way we could miss this one. We went to a noon showing and, oddly enough, it felt like no time had passed since we'd last been there. Funny how quickly almost two years can go by.

The movie was ABSOLUTELY AWESOME. I don't think I've ever been quite so giddy at the movies. The hype for this one had my bar set high and it did not disappoint. Spoiler thoughts below, in no particular order:

When Andrew Garfield showed up, I literally clapped because I was so excited. Even though I already knew him and Tobey were in it.
When the three of them suited up and started running through the scaffolding and then started swinging around together, I was giggling like a little kid.
I loved when Tobey was stretching and said, "My back"
I loved the organic webshooter discussion

Venom is coming to look for Spider-man....that movie must happen, whether it be a solo movie or a set up for Secret Wars
Strange 2 looks excellent!
How will people remember him? You know it's gonna happen. Will something with Strange and the multiverse break the spell? Who knows.
That suit he made right at the end was some sweet eye candy!
Everything felt so balanced, despite being jam packed with characters.

Only question is who will be the new host? A new, in-universe Eddie Brock? Only other option is Flash, but he was a hero when he was the symbiote's host.

Ehh, I'm sure they could easily just multiverse transport Hardy back in some way. Great thing with these movies is there is ALWAYS a way!

No one has answered my question. How did Venom get pulled to this universe when he never knew that Peter Parker was Spiderman until after getting pulled through?

First of all, I must say it was so great seeing theaters packed. Really made the experience all the more better, seeing how full the place was, sharing laughs and "oohs and ahs" with complete strangers. Buy AMC stock tomorrow, as much as you can, and thank me later (not a financial advisor, do your own due diligence).

As for the movie, it certainly lived up to the hype and then some. Wow, what a film. Very well done, and the 99% score on Rotten Tomatoes is spot-on.

About my only complaint is that they didn't recreate this meme at some point in the film. What a missed opportunity.

Are we sure they didn't, though? In the scene when they were in the lab and Ned calls out for Peter, they all answer and start pointing at each other. While not an exact duplication of the meme, I thought it was pretty close.

Doesn't count, it's a Spiderman meme not a Peter Parker meme.

Overall I loved the movie. Thought it was great. Especially

Andrew Garfield. I think he kind of got his redemption as Spider-Man here. At some point while this was filming I think I'd said something to the effect of including him and elements from his movies wasn't a big deal because they were bad and no one cared about them, but I ended up caring quite a bit. In a movie about second chances, I think him getting another go as Spider-Man and even a character arc of sorts was great.
I cared about his movies.

I feel like they can go either way here, but my assumption is they move forward with him going his own way, probably getting into Empire State University, meeting Harry, Gwen, and Mary Jane, etc. Him walking out of the coffee shop without trying to reconnect had a sort of finality to me. Like his story with these characters is over.
I disagree. He's protecting them from the fallout of knowing who Spiderman is. That doesn't mean their story is over at all, just that they are insulated from any Spiderman dealings.

Those characters are leaving his life. They're going to MIT and don't even know who he is anymore. This was absolutely designed to write them out of the story, on multiple levels. This Spider-Man will have a new status quo going forward.
