Spider-Man: No Way Home (Now all webbed up with SPOILERS) (3 Viewers)

No one has answered my question. How did Venom get pulled to this universe when he never knew that Peter Parker was Spiderman until after getting pulled through?

One theory I heard is the symbiote may be able to share memories even across the multiverse. So if one Venom in one universe knows they all know.

It’s a reach, and doesn’t explain Electro who didn’t know either.

Didn't all that King in Black stuff in the comics indicate the symbiotes have a sort of shared subconciousness across time and space? It may be a stretch, but if the Venom from the Raimi movies knew, maybe other versions of the symbiote did as well. Venom did say he "hates that guy" without ever having seen him before in the post credit of Venom 2.

More spoiler stuff, as my brain continues to chew on this one

The de-aging was magnificent. If you didn't know that Alfred Molina was 68, you'd absolutely believe him to be young by seeing him here.

Ned got Strange's ring and opened portals with remarkable ease. Anyone else think there's more to that? Seems like he had an easier time than Strange did when he started.

And damn, it was good to see Charlie Cox again.

I like Ned. Would be nice to see him beyond the guy in the chair.

Matt Murdoc is a really good lawyer...

I'm watching season 2 of dare devil. The punisher v biker gang in the hallway episode...He's such a great lawyer. Not only did he protect an innocent old man and show everyone what self defense is. He's also demonstrating the chain of custody.

seriously, we need some DD in the MCU. He's so awesome.

Love all the discussion. I gotta watch again cuz I feel like I didn't catch some of the things being pointed out and I'll know what to look for.

Overall, it was a fun movie and it felt good to get back into a theater. There were some glaring continuity issues that took me out of it a little:

1. It's hard to imagine a circumstance where Dr. Strange would risk a reality-altering calamity so that Peter's friends could go to MIT. The only way I could justify that would be if he did his 14 million possibility thingie and predicted this was the best timeline, but that required the Time Stone, so I don't know. Very un-Strange.

2. So we all forget about Peter Parker being Spiderman. What about all the video? Pictures? People's phones. Didn't MJ and Ned wonder why they were beat up at the Statue of Liberty after a massive battle that there's no reason the people of NYC would have forgotten witnessing? And even if they forgot Peter Parker existed, does that mean they forgot that they just shard a massive even with Spiderman? If they did forget that, why?

BTW, sounds like Daredevil will be a recurring character in She Hulk.

Overall I loved the movie. Thought it was great. Especially

Andrew Garfield. I think he kind of got his redemption as Spider-Man here. At some point while this was filming I think I'd said something to the effect of including him and elements from his movies wasn't a big deal because they were bad and no one cared about them, but I ended up caring quite a bit. In a movie about second chances, I think him getting another go as Spider-Man and even a character arc of sorts was great.
Likewise, I thought they were able to give the Maguire Spider-man some redemption and closure with his MJ, allowing that they were able to work things out. That was one of the disappointments from them not making the planned fourth film in the series, that it left their relationship unresolved.

Those characters are leaving his life. They're going to MIT and don't even know who he is anymore. This was absolutely designed to write them out of the story, on multiple levels. This Spider-Man will have a new status quo going forward.
I feel like they set up Ned to become the Hobgoblin. He no longer remembers his promise to not kill Peter Parker so he's primed to turn evil. Maybe him and MJ start dating and a battle with the bad guys ends with MJ dying and Ned blaming Spiderman for it.

Then why didn't the spell pull the Venom that knew into this universe instead of a different one? I don't think they have an explanation for it.

Saw it last night. Agree with all that it was a really good movie and i just loved the whole theme.

im getting old - when Andrew appeared 3/4 of the theater was like "OOOHHHH". When Toby appeared 3/4 of the theater was like " ummmmm"
