SSE etiquette (2 Viewers)

Back in the day I would agree nowadays doing home installs, when people don't get their way they jump to straight nutso in 0 to 30 seconds
Because they don't expect you to do anything and they're ready to call your boss or give you a bad rating on yelp. However, there still are those "I don't give a fork" people that will lose a job just to whip your arse.

There is none. Be as rude and insulting as possible when ever there's a chance. Misspell a word and you get a page and half of ridicule. I once typed "Sean Peyton" by mistake which resulted in multiple pages of insults and ridicule. For a simple mistake. The kind of behavior that would cause a fist fight if you treated a physically fit man on the street like that.

What's up with that? One poor guy made his first post ever and it was weak, but not to the point that it deserved the abuse that followed. And that's just one example I've seen over the last few weeks and it's getting worse.

Lighten up people. Rude is rude no matter where you are.

Indeed, it's embarrassing. Just as bad are the personal attacks just for having a differing opinion. Several times I have read derogatory inferences about someone's "posting history". Some people seem to think it's a personal attack to merely disagree with them. You seem to treat everyone like they're in your living room, and that's a goal we should all strive for.

I generally agree with you, but my one caveat is if someone posts a hot take immediately following a gut-punch loss, they're going to get more fired-up, emotional, and potentially rude responses than if they posted on a Wednesday morning. Everyone should remember this.

Many have said we should all stay off the boards for 24 hours after a loss. It's great advice. I've often failed to follow it, though.
As much as I love SR, it is simply to be avoided after loses (and some victories unfortunately). I’ll let you know if I ever succeed at taking my own advice

I seldom read past the 4th or 5th page, because by then the thread becomes incoherent and less and less about the original post and more about disagreements repeated endlessly, and that's where most of the insults are posted.

People say things online they would never say to a person's face. That's the internet.
Ye said but true. If i wouldn't say it to your face i wouldnt say it here. Lifes a lot better when people like and respect you.

Don’t get your panties in a bunch, it’s the internet full of keyboard warriors, you let that ruin your day and they accomplish their goal.
True but that's not really the point. The mods do a great job but we can self regulate too. This isn't just football website it's a culture and the membership creates that. Let's demand a higher standard.
