Steve Smith’s WR rankings for the draft (43 Viewers)

I mean 40 is not the end all be all. Ted Higgins ran a 4.59 at his pro day.

Just thought this was worth a share especially being that this is a guy who knows what it takes upstairs to be a great NFL WR beyond the natural born gifts they were born with. Smith was a 5’9” WR who played with technical savvy and an attitude like a rabid pitbull backed into a corner. Sorta makes me hesitate wanting TMac if he’s there at 9 based on his assessment.

I’ve been in the Higgins train since Nov, he compared Higgins to Mike Evans.

You can’t trust those pro day times. Some of the scouts timed him as high as 4.63 and the consensus was that it was something in the 4.5 range. I don’t think he’ll go top 10.
Breer tweeted that 3 hand times had him in the mid 4.5s.

It’s all splitting hairs at this point as I think he’s a solid 4.5 guy.

I still think the saints should take him at 9 though if he’s there. Even IF it’s a “slight reach” the saints have reached on far worse players and fits. Any of Jeanty/Tet/Warren is fine though.

I just want an offensive centerpiece.

Had Higgins at 8 but got the impression he thought he was a lot better than that.
Yea that’s why I said I was paying more attention to the evaluation over the number ranking bc was altering the consensus ranking of the WRs, so that’s why no one moved more than two spots from their original spot. Of the big-bodied WRs tho, Higgins’ eval was the best sounding from Smith imo.

I've never really put much stock in those numbers. It's more important they can play fast than run track to me.

Dude banged a dude’s wife, said “I’m sorry”, and then eventually hung up on the guy🤣

I can’t look at Smitty the same from now on😬

Colston didn't have the best 40 time, but he had one of the best 20 yard splits. That's why the Saints took a chance on him and it paid off. Receivers run more routes under 20 yards than they do over 20 yards.

If a receiver has a good 20 yard time and a good shuttle time, then they have the speed and quickness needed to get open for most of the routes they will run.

The more precisely they run routes, the more success they will have. By the time a receiver reaches the NFL, it's easier to improve route running precision, than it is to try to get faster and quicker.

Excuse me..? I haven’t the foggiest and need the gossip please and thank you. I lived in South America from 2016-2022, so there’s a gap in my US pop culture knowledge.

It's not just a WR we need it's a certain type of WR we need. We don't really need a under 6' under 200lb WR, we have those. We need a big body contested pass catcher with good YA. Now that could come in a TE like Warren. But Tet fits just what we need. I'd be perfectly happy if Tet runs a bad 40 and we can trade down to like 18 and get him
I don't think you and I have ever agreed on anything more. We've got smurfs aplenty. We need a big body guy who can impose his will. It's something we're sorely missing post-CGM.
