SXSW Bully sucker punch. Justified or cheap? (2 Viewers)

No I agree with you, no rules in street fights. But first of all, there was absolutely no physical harm done to either of those 2 guys. The guy was picking for a fight yes, but I wouldn't say he deserved a sucker punch. You tell me why me knockout didn't start a fight with him when they were toe to toe? Why? Because he's a ***** and knew he'd get his *** whipped otherwise he'd have fought him and beat him down rather than take a cheap shot. He had no business interfering. None! He's no authority to anyone. He's some shmuck in a crowd deciding to show off.

The bully got what was coming to him because of all the posturing he was doing. Bouncing around like he was a bad *** or something. Had he just gone in and started fighting and punching (bully or not) he probably wouldn't have gotten sucker punched. He shouldn't have been posturing in such a big group of people. He left himself exposed with his back/side unprotected and that resulted in a sucker punch. He has only himself to blame, consider it a lesson learned. As gavinj said, there are no rules in street fighting.

You understand that there are no rules in street fights, but then you act like all fights must be 1 on 1. They rarely are, especially in a situation like this where it's likely your opponent has friends in the crowd. There's no ring/cage and no refs, no official sanctioning and no rules. If you pick a fight with one if my friends in the street, you better hope you have eyes in the back of your head because I will be circling around behind you and the last thing I'm thinking about is how I'm going to look in front of a bunch of strangers who I will never see again. I, like lots of people here, have seen these kind of things result in people getting killed or paralyzed or whatever. I'm not going to let that happen to someone I like in the name of honor or fairplay, it's just not going to happen. Call me a ***** if you want, but I am a stand-up guy with a lot of friends and I'll take that.

Fair enough, ill take that into consideration when I see a fight to start curb stomping mofos. After all, life's unfair and ppl deserve to ****ed over by anyone and everyone. It's the way of the world now a days. So you're right.

Do we know what started this whole chain of misfortunate events? I need some back story before I start labeling people.

I doesnt really matter what started it, you can't just walk around slapping/jabbing random people in the face because you are upset with them.

We need to know the backstory though to get a clear picture of what led to this series of events. Any attorney worth his salt is going to want to get the entire story before he goes around accusing people, otherwise it's a practice of chaos.

So what is the back story?

Even if the two people he is trying to fight said or did something to get him upset, that is no reason to goad them into a fight they obviously do not want anything to do with. Acting like a classless jerk is not the way to handle this situation and IMHO he got what he deserved.

So if somebody taunts you or hits you and you react as this guy did, you are still to blame? Ain't that grand?

Also, I noticed the cop arresting the "bully" but I didn't see the kid who laid him out get arrested. What happened to him?
I need a backstory here.

You seem to think life is a Rocky movie. I hope for your sake you never get in a real fight.

This.

FYI, wiz, the reason the bully needed to be decked from the side was because he had chosen to pick on people who wouldn't or couldn't defend themselves. He chose to mess with someone and had they stood up to him he would have left like the coward who messes with the small and weak or he would have had to fight.

Bullies don't usually want to fight. They want to feel better about their insecurities and tenises.

When someone relentlessly picks on another and then assaults them with a slap or a push, it takes a big person who could defend himself to not do so, but the bully still needed as *** whooping. He got it. He ended up like the sack of trash he is lying on the curb to be tossed in the truck.

But what direction was the wind blowing?

I'm going to need to know that before I can say who was in the right here. The video just wasn't clear enough.

Man, you gathered all that from the video? Your Ivy League professors had no idea what kind of talent they were dealing with.

Fair point. I am just looking for some unbiased details.

Btw, has anyone been to SXSW lately? I remember going a few times about 6-8 years ago. Where was all of this going down when I was there? I thought it was just about the music. Seems like SXSW is going the way of The Sundance Film Festival (commercial city, USA baby!).

FYI, I went to UT for grad school. I knew my way around the fight scene 20 years ago and besides the names changing, I'm pretty safe to assume the game is the same.

BTW, best place for a beat down when I was there was to try and park a japanese motorcycle in front of Joe's Generic. Or be a frat boy slam dancing into some quiet guy at Cave Club....Those were fun times.

I am not trying to he a wise *** or anything, I just want to know what lead up to this event. I know that there are people out there just looking for a fight, but without knowing the full details, the two guys he was going after could have been the ones starting things.

That's why these details are important to me.
