Video Taysom Hill Raw Footage (Video From OTAs) (2 Viewers)

If you look back to when Drew was in his first few years in the league, he was seen as average and "middling". It wasn't until the 2005 season that he became the Brees we all know and love....then he got hurt. Unlike Drew, he has Drew to learn from so he should advance more quickly. IMHO, I feel like Hill is on par with or even possibly ahead of #9 at the same point in their careers as far as skill. Obviously we don't REALLY know because he hasn't played a real game. I look forward to what this kid will do post-Brees. I like the analogy to Young. I also am reminded of Rodgers. If he turns out even close to any one of those, we are set for a while.

When the Saints signed Brees, I had only seen him play in one game in the 2004 season. I was having lunch with a friend at a local restaurant, so they had the San Diego game on. Brees didn't jump out as being special during that game. I barely recognized his name when the Saints signed him and I didn't think much of it. Then Dolphins fan that I know, said that I should be happy that the Saints signed Brees. I told him Brees seemed like he'd be a good QB. He emphatically corrected me and said that Brees was one of the best QB's in the league. Since I hadn't seen or known anything about Brees 2005 season, I blew off what he said. Didn't take long into the 2006 season to see what he saw.

Hill doesn't have to be as great as Brees to be a good QB for the Saints. Many QB's not as great as Brees have lead their teams to winning seasons and to Superbowls. It'd be great if Hill, or whoever is the next QB, are anywhere nearly as great as Brees, but it's not necessary in order for the Saints to be successful. They just need a QB that is at least good. It seems that Hill has that potential.

Since many SR members don't want Taysom Hill to be Brees' successor, I really do. I just have this funny feeling that so many want to be butthurt after Brees only to have something to @#$%! about. In comes a really good Taysom Hill ready to be the next Taysom Hill. I've seen him play the QB position as well as anyone not named Brees, Rodgers, Brady. 0-3 of those Qbs were not thought of to be the next anything. I say pay close attention come PRESEASON and go from there. As of right now, I prefer giving Hill a shot over anyone coming out of college within the next 3 years or so. I wanted Trace Mcsorley from Penn State because his game and style reminds me and truly shows Brees is his idol. Well whatever, I just have a good feeling about Hill & I feel Coach does too. I'm telling you he lights up when asked anything about him. Like it's little secret that no one knows about except a few, including Brees.

Just my true honest opinion. SEAN PAYTON LIGHTS UP WHEN ASKED ABOUT TAYSOM HILL AND IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH SPECIAL TEAMS PLAY. Either I'm blind and deaf, or just crazy. The ongoing SR jokes about him started out funny, getting annoying now because it now seems as if most here want to be right about the wrong thing(if he's not good) ONLY TO SAY I TOLD YOU SO!

As always very well said and thought out. ?

Thanks Truluv Kamara, just to clarify, I'm not saying I want Hill to be the future or that he will be. Just don't understand all the funny business about this so called "hype". I sincerely wish him the best and love his athleticism. I'm just confused with the line of people that want him to fail to say I told you so, before he really has a chance to prove what he has or doesn't have. I've gotten used to that around here over the years. I like that it's not so much a project Tebow style to where Tebows game just didn't translate, however I feel Hills' does quite more in a sense of mechanics, athleticism, speed, Brees, and Sean Payton.

That's all. It's like round here just because he fast, taller than Brees, and hell of an athletic build and played ST for 12 snaps but is a qb, is the slick running joke on SR because of some what i consider as positive attributes. A race to see who can say I told you so first.

Well he certainly looks the part. Aside from McCown I would say that Hill looks more the part than any other backup we've had in the past 6-7 years. I do think he needs to get a little more touch on those screens and short passes. It almost looks like he throws them from a very high release so they look like they are darting to the ground. Similar to how Scam Newton does. I hope he gets some good reps in preseason so we can get a better look.

Ever wonder why Green Bay didn't keep him? Even after looking more than decent in the preseason?

GB has a backup they believe in, but was going to keep Hill on their practice squad. I don't think they wanted him to get poached. Rodgers is in his prime. So they don't need another QB as badly as us.

Maybe GB puts more stock in the player than the whole person. Maybe Hill is one of Payton's good/good/good players. Maybe he believes Hill will be an excellent team CEO.

You're most welcome... I can tell you do your homework. ?

He looks like a legit number 2 QB to me. Looking forward to training camp.

He does look like he's a prototype QB but let's see how he does in preseason. It seems like Josh Hill has slimmed up some. Maybe he's ready to step up. I already think he's underrated but maybe he can break through this year.

The main issue I see with Hil is that he'll be already 28 during the season. By the time Drew retires he'll be 30 or more. Can a 30+ QB really be your QB of the future? Doubt it

When Brees was 30, he was our QB of the future.
