I knew Kellen was a genius when he developed that play that caused our defensive secondary to collide into each other midfield and freeing his TE to rumble for 80+ yards. Now, I can say "that's my coach!"

I think Johnson is an average pass catching TE with some upside. I'd rather have paid less for him on a 2 year deal instead of 3, but I do think the reactions to this are kind of over the top. He was likely the best FA TE available. It's obviously a weak group but we either had to sign one or go into the draft needing to draft 2 TEs. I think this is a good TE class but it's never a good idea to go into a draft being forced to draft a position much less being forced to take two players at the position. You just never know how the board is going to fall and it could force you to reach for one or both.

Agree with all you posted but I am one of probably a select few folks who’d hoped we’d draft two TE’s this go ‘round.

Can we please wait until the details of the contracts are known before overreacting to the news? Right now we only know very basics of both Johnson and Young’s new deals. Nothing about how much in each year, signing bonus amounts, and how much and when salary/roster bonus guarantees.
