If you have your life together and worry for nothing, sorry to tell you: Venomous sea worms are washing up on Texas beaches, and, if touched, they’ll make you feel like your skin is on fire.

The bristle worms — known to scientists as Amphinome rostrata — have recently found themselves along the Texas coast, according to the Harte Research Institute for Gulf of Mexico Studies at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. A scientist at the institute who found one said he hasn’t seen them in three to four years.

An April 14 Facebook post from the Institute calmly laid out the situation: “WARNING!!! Your worst nightmares are washing up right now in the form of fireworms!”

Marine bristle worms are found all over the world, from the Gulf Coast of Texas to the scuba-diving haven known as the Poor Knights Islands, located east of the Tutukākā coast in New Zealand, according to the National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research (NIWA).

The worms were first described 250 years ago by Prussian naturalist Peter Simon Pallas on page 106 of his 1766 Latin book “Miscellanea Zoologica,” according to NIWA. They can grow to be about eight inches long.

Each worm is composed of 60 to 150 different segments covered by hollow bristles that easily get stuck in human skin and deposit painful venom, said Jace Tunnell, the institute’s director of community engagement.

The worms live between two and a half and nine years, he said. They reproduce sexually and asexually, meaning, as he put it, “I could cut this thing in half and it could regrow.” Their predators are fish and crabs...........

A Texas mom is wanted for the murder of her six-year-old son, after she allegedly claimed to have sold him to a woman at a grocery store.

Noel Rodriguez-Alvarez, who had disabilities, has not been seen alive since October 2022.

Almost two years on, he is presumed dead and federal authorities are still searching for his mother Cindy Rodriguez Singh, 39, who is wanted on suspicion of his murder.


Police said that Rodriguez Singh described her son as “evil, possessed, or having a demon in him” in the days leading up to his death.

According to a search warrant, Rodriguez Singh, from Dallas, had also allegedly told Noel’s grandmother she had sold him to a woman at a Fiesta Market grocery store in Texas.…..

A man has been arrested after allegedly trying to rob an Austin, Texas pizza shop – and getting some rough justice in the process.

Richard Curtis, 19, has been charged with aggravated robbery, according to Fox 7 Austin. He allegedly walked into a Marco’s Pizza location around 7pm on Thursday and approached an employee.

The man allegedly slipped a worker at the restaurant a note stating, “Don’t say s**, empty the drawer.” He then showed the employee a gun in his waistband, an affidavit obtained by the outlet stated.

The worker then grabbed the man and put him in a chokehold while a co-worker called police.

As the co-worker fought Curtis, the restaurant’s manager lifted the gun from his waistband. The manager reportedly tried to shoot the alleged assailant but the gun didn’t fire so he beat him with the handle.

As a result, the manager began fighting off Curtis. The manager grabbed a knife from the kitchen and asked Curtis if he preferred prison or death, according to FOX 7.

The would-be robber reportedly said “prison” and then stopped fighting and waited for his arrest……..

A Texas teenager has been charged with animal cruelty after she was accused of using pesticide to poison and kill a rival’s competition show goat.

Authorities allege that Aubrey Vanlandingham, 17, used a drench gun to force-feed toxic pesticide to the goat, named Willie, at a barn at the Vista Ridge high school in Cedar Park in October.

According to an arrest affidavit obtained by multiple outlets, Vanlandingham reportedly confessed to deliberately poisoning the animal, an act that was captured on CCTV footage.


The goat died about 21 hours later after convulsing and showing signs of respiratory distress, documents say.

A necropsy confirmed that the cause of death was organophosphate intoxication from phosmet, a pesticide commonly used for external parasite control in livestock, CBS Austin reported.

Vanlandingham confessed to police that she deliberately poisoned the goat because she believed the animal’s owner was “a cheater”, according to the affidavit. She reportedly said it was her second attempt to kill the goat.

Investigators who searched her phone history found that she had searched “how much bleach can kill an animal” and “poisoning pets, what you should know”, People reported. She also allegedly searched “how to clear search history”.

Vanlandingham faces up to two years in prison if convicted of cruelty to livestock animals.…..
