The Electric Vehicle (EV) discussion thread (Merged)

I put in a reservation for both the Terra and Traveler. I'm interested in the versions with the range extender. IMO 150miles of EV range is plenty when you have a generator to give you an additional 350miles. I also like that the truck has a 5.5foot bed, 220v and 110v outlets, and a lot of Rivian's technology.

It doesn't arrive until 2027. I should be ready to unload my Rivian R1T by then.

Unless I'm mistaken, these models will have 350 miles of EV range which can extend to 500 miles with the extender.

I read the press packet from Scout. The battery only version has 350 miles of range. The battery on the Harvester versions (with the ICE generator) is much smaller. It gets 150miles of range on battery alone. Then the generator kicks in to give you the additional 350 miles of range.

That would work great for me since I rarely drive over 150 miles during my daily driving. One the weekends, when I go into the mountains, I drive a lot further. That ICE generator, of course, would let me take very long road trips without having to spend 15-30 minutes at charging stops. Normally that's not a big deal but it's a real problem driving from Denver to DFW. That corridor in New Mexico has only one group of Tesla chargers.

Ah ok. That’s helpful to know. It’s definitely a sharp-looking vehicle.

Yup, I had a lot of fun with those.
Unfortunately, they went away the week after Halloween. Also, you can't drive with those on. The Rivian will always revert back to it's normal dash and infotainment screens. I would have been amazingly cool if those skins were functional.

Honda and Nissan (and probably Mitsubishi since Nissan owns part of that company) are in talks with merging. Evs from China are a serious threat to older automobile companies

Well that didn't last long
At a board meeting on Wednesday, Nissan decided to move on from the EV merger with Honda. The sudden change comes after Honda reportedly wanted more control over the partnership.

According to sources close to the matter, Nissan is now searching for new partners. Nissan CEO Makoto Uchida met with Honda’s head honcho on Thursday morning (via Financial Times), confirming plans to end merger talks.

Honda dodged a bullet.
Nissan dug themselves into this hole and they don’t want Honda to be in charge to fix things..
