The Investment Thread (6 Viewers)

It's not done either, that is just the initial reaction. People have time over the weekend and go home to discuss with their spouse or partner and talk about how to move forward if they share retirement plans or investments. You could see a lot more selling off on Monday and in the early part of the week as well.

We really need a button besides “like” that expresses “I agree with your statement but don’t like it one bit”.

TSLA back under $1k today ! Dont say i didnt give yall a heads-up !!

Apologies for quoting myself, but it’s been an interesting 6 mos, TSLA wise… dont get me started on that imbecile Musk, he has cost me a lot of money… but i feel even worse for a buddy of mine.. as some of you may remember, i got in on TSLA pretty early, back in 2016, at the equivalent of $42 per share (after adjusting for stock split, et al).. well, i found out that my friend - we used to be tight but now only talk a handful of times a year since he lives in CA, has a young kid, etc- i found out that he invested in TSLA 10 yrs ago, in 2012, at the equivalent of $6 per share.. and dropped much more than i did.. by my math, i belive that at the height of TSLA in 2020, he was - if not a Tesla millionaire, then very close to being a Tesla millionaire….. and now all that has been basically halved… I hope that Musk somehow finds it within himself to think of the shareholders, straighten up and fly right- but somehow i doubt it .

Can't fly much farther right than rumors of buying OAN.

Musk is just the easy target. TSLA was always destined to come crashing back at some point and if reality decides to continue pressing, it could half again fairly quicky. I mean, the PE ratio is still hovering at triple digits. Don't get me wrong, he can still really impact the stock price moving forward and likely will. His ego is outsmarting him at every turn.

I think TSLA being down has far more to do with the macroeconomy than anything Musk is doing. The whole market (especially the tech sector) has been hit hard over the last several months, not just Tesla. BTW, they just announced a 3 to 1 stock split a few days ago.

I am aware of the recently announced stock split.. i dont think it’ll do much, though when the last split- which was 5 to 1- occurred, it dramatically raised the value of TSLA, so i could be wrong .

As for what you and @bclemms mentioned in terms of Musk’s shenanigans and his effect on TSLA stock- i am also painfully aware of how bad the market as a whole is doing.. but i have seen much discussion on CNBC and other places recently, by folks much smarter than myself, about the fact that they think Musk and his antics have played into TSLA’s dismal performance, to the point where they think if he hadnt been so outspoken on Twitter lately, and hadnt botched his attempted purchase of Twitter- TSLA stock would be up another $100 to $150 right now, so at least it’d be trading at closer to $900 than under $700 right now .. no way to know for sure, but i tend to agree with those who value companies at least partly on the stability and stewardship of the people at the top of said companies .

This can definitely have ramifications on the rest of the world.
Ugh, I hate these reports because you just don't know what to think without intimate knowledge of the source. Is it not being reported because there isn't much information getting out or isn't that serious or is this one small website sensationalizing?

I read about this a couple weeks ago on a different site as well. Have to see if I can find it.

So what happens tomorrow. Do we see a bounce tomorrow of does the red trend continue?

I'm thinking red because this weekend we tripped the $5 a gallon psychological barrier, plus many people discussed with their significant other whether or not to stay in the market or sell, not everyone makes these decisions alone so many of the average investors made their decision over the weekend. We could see another sell off tomorrow after the bell. I think the slight green in the futures right now is misleading and even premarket tomorrow could be setting up a big rug pull for market open.

I actually believe tomorrow will be in the green. It seems like when there is a crypto sell off, we get Green Day but we will see. Either way, it will be momentarily and not long term. I am actually looking for a run up this week in AMC because of T-2 date this week so we will see.

This isn't your typical crypto sell off, large bit of it was due to margin calls and firms needing to liquidate fast capital.

Also QT officially begins Wed and we may get Powell trying to do his best Volcker impression.

I totally agree that a lot of the sell off is for margin calls. We will see what happens. We have been hearing for months that it's about to get bad. Reality is, it's been getting bad all year. I do believe it's going to get worse, I just hope some stocks do well and squeeze to offset the losses across the board.

When I first made my post future's were green but quickly went red, even surprised me.
