He's 33 years old! Thats amazing when you consider how physical he plays, how fast he is, how versatile he is, etc. He plays with the physicality of a man in his prime years, which at 33, most NFL players are past.

I don't want to get out of hand, but when you consider the term "football player", I challenge anyone to name one better, who can contribute in so many ways. He's one of the NFL's most special players and contributors in decades. I think the national media greatly discounts just how good and important he is/has been to the Saints.

The Saints need to get Taysom more involved in the running game early on and throughout the game.

Since the beginning of the 2022 Season, over the last 24 games played, the Saints are 7-0 when Taysom Hill rushes for 40 yards or more. When he doesn't, the Saints have a record of 3-14.

It doesn't take a math genius to figure out that when Hill is involved and effective in the running game that the Saints win, 100% of the time that he rushes for 40 yards or more. They have lost almost 5 out of 6 games over the past 24 that he doesn't.

Someone share this with the folks out on Airline Drive.

They said they were going to get Taysom more involved in the passing game this year. Early on this year, not so much, but in recent games they have and he has performed well. That, however, is not where he dominates. He dominates in the Power QB Run Game. It's no secret that he's going to run. Other teams can't consistently stop him. He's also effective in the RPO game as a QB where the other teams have to respect him running the ball. When he does he is effective. When he hands the ball of the RB has been effective. He's been effective as a traditional RB and also as a traditional QB where he drops back but then takes off running. Before the "He's not an NFL QB" crowd chimes in, note that Hill is currently 3 of 3 on passing attempts in 2023. Taysom Hill has a career record as a starting QB of 7 wins and 2 losses, and is the Saints All-Time leader in passing with 7.9 yards per attempt.

Taysom Hill has performed well in every position he has been asked or allowed to play. Coming out of college, several NFL scouts suggested Hill would best transition to the Safety position. That leads one to ask the proverbial SR question, Can He Play Safety?

I don't really remember anyone denying his well-roundedness as a football player.

Which is why he's been called the Swiss Army Knife since becoming a household name for the Saints in 2017.

I guess the point I’m making is that he’s one of the top football players (by definition) in the last several decades. He just doesn’t get thought of at that level. And the fact that in 2023 he can do it at 33 years old, is phenomenal.

I'd have bet we'd see Hill and Carr in the backfield together and have Taysom motion out to the slot or wing more. I didn't take into account we don't do presnap motion, though.
Hill can't make contested catches but one on one with a LB in space, should be a match up we try to exploit

Probably helps that he only has about 400 touches in 7 years. Where a guy like Kamara has 1800 in the same time.
Such a great point. His body hasn't taken the beating that most ball carries have taken by the time they are 33 years old. That's one good thing about the way they use him. It's frustrating at times because you want him to get more touches but limiting his usage has worked for the most part.

It will be interesting to see how much longer his body can hold up. His limited workload will help prolong his career but but you know what they say about Father Time, he has never lost. Brady gave him a run for his money but he's still the undefeated, undisputed champ. How long can Taysom run super fast and run people over?

What's really amazing is Taysom's big-play ability, especially for a guy who is used in so many short-yardage situations.

Kamara: 1,204 carries, 5 40+ yard runs
Hill: 346 carries, 4 40+ yard runs
