The Thing People Don't Say Taysom Hill (2 Viewers)

If Taysom were named the starting QB when Brees retired... We'd be the 2 time defending NFCS Champs right now.... With about 10 gloriously ugly wins per year in this horrid division.... And I'd be totally fine with it... Every number known to man says the more snaps he gets at QB, the more unbeatable the Saints are... The only people that don't seem to get this... are Saints coaches, and fantasy football fans. The guy is a total beast and winner... I'm glad we have him, and sad that we don't use him on every play.

Didn't Payton call Tim Tebow & try to convince him for this role prior to discovering Taysom? And if I remember correctly Tebow turned him down, saying he wanted to remain a traditional quarterback

I'd be willing to bet that he plays a year or two more then hangs it up. I think his contract runs through 2025.
I can see this happening. He has a lot of business ventures going on outside of football (look it up). I think football is his means to an end.

I remember that being a story.

Tebow wanted what he wanted at the time.........and I guess I can respect that.

The Saints need to get Taysom more involved in the running game early on and throughout the game.

Since the beginning of the 2022 Season, over the last 24 games played, the Saints are 7-0 when Taysom Hill rushes for 40 yards or more. When he doesn't, the Saints have a record of 3-14.

It doesn't take a math genius to figure out that when Hill is involved and effective in the running game that the Saints win, 100% of the time that he rushes for 40 yards or more. They have lost almost 5 out of 6 games over the past 24 that he doesn't.

Someone share this with the folks out on Airline Drive.

They said they were going to get Taysom more involved in the passing game this year. Early on this year, not so much, but in recent games they have and he has performed well. That, however, is not where he dominates. He dominates in the Power QB Run Game. It's no secret that he's going to run. Other teams can't consistently stop him. He's also effective in the RPO game as a QB where the other teams have to respect him running the ball. When he does he is effective. When he hands the ball of the RB has been effective. He's been effective as a traditional RB and also as a traditional QB where he drops back but then takes off running. Before the "He's not an NFL QB" crowd chimes in, note that Hill is currently 3 of 3 on passing attempts in 2023. Taysom Hill has a career record as a starting QB of 7 wins and 2 losses, and is the Saints All-Time leader in passing with 7.9 yards per attempt.

Taysom Hill has performed well in every position he has been asked or allowed to play. Coming out of college, several NFL scouts suggested Hill would best transition to the Safety position. That leads one to ask the proverbial SR question, Can He Play Safety?
Great info. I think it's been clear for almost 3 years that most of our successful drives in that time frame are ones where Taysom received multiple touches. I've said it for the last couple of years I truly wish they would have just committed to Hill being QB and just let him be the dual threat that he is. I truly think that every season would have been more successful going that route. Maybe not a Super Bowl team or even a Conference Championship but they would have been a playoff team.

Even Taysom haters would have to admit that the offense would be hard pressed to be any worse than it's been with Taysom at QB. But here's the deal, going with Taysom at QB full time would take some imagination. The offense would need to be changed to suit his strengths. The problem is that we don't have an OC like Greg Roman who is willing to think outside of the box.

If nothing else it would've been fun to watch.
