Glass is half full...

Brees' said something along the lines of 'I want answers...'

I think his contract does get done, for a fair amount that is good for him, and still allows the team to work towards addressing a few more needs.

Carmichael has proven himself to be an efficient OC and with Brees leading the O, Spagnuolo bringing something 'new' to our D, and the whole team playing with a chip on their shoulder...

I don't think this season is lost. I think our team is going to surprise some folks (in a good way) this season.

We've got the proverbial black eye. We've been kicked down, and then kicked again.

But this team is ******. Listen to Greer's interview today... Read Brees' responses.

We're already at the bottom this season. We can only go up.

I wouldn't want to be the fan of any team playing against Brees & the Saints this year.

Sack up folks... It's gonna get interesting.

You guys are in for a rude awakening. It's hard enough to win when we have one of the best coaches in the league. You know, the guy who creates the team culture, runs the offseason minicamps, makes the team schedule, runs training camp, creates the plays, creates the gameplans, breaks down the opponents on film, motivates our guys, selects who plays and when, decides who makes the team...that kind of stuff. Essentially everything.

It's a huge loss. And while we are good, we will be hard pressed to be a playoff team without Payton, much less a superbowl team.

All this rah rah rally around the flag for our ousted leader stuff is emotional crap. It might last a game or two. We might play with a chip on our shoulder for half a season or something. But once a little adversity comes our way, we'll be hosed. Our millionaires have a built in excuse lodged in their subconscious.

You're totally fooling yourself or are completely naive if you think this year isn't wasted. It is.

Even if everything goes as swimmingly as it possibly can, we've lost a huge factor in our success - Payton's mind, leadership, strategy and planning.

eh, while i won't disagree completely, i think we have the player leadership in place that makes us strong enough to still be a contender for the playoffs. part of the issue is that we have no clue who is going to replace payton. we also don't know how much carmichael was involved with the planning of the offense when SP was injured, but i doubt that he wasn't heavily involved. he did a fantastic job filling in as interim. everything is up in the air right now and i wouldn't even be surprised if SP sues to delay his suspension somehow. anyway, at this point, i'm just wanting the season to begin.

i expect no less from you...the further away from the Superdome, the more your mind gets corrupted...next, you will have LSU trucknutz hanging from your Land Rover

there is still a season to be played and no matter what your neighbor with the same floor-plan(mirrored) says, this **** is not over

so crawl back into your northshore retreat and have some white wine with the couple down the road who you don't even like

Do you really think he does all of that by himself?

if peyton manning can carry his team to the super bowl with jim caldwell looking bewildered and doing nothing on the sidelines for the entire season, there is no reason brees can't do the same

I tend to agree with this.

One thing all the Bagdad Bob's are forgetting is the player suspensions could be absolutely devastating this year as well. Tell me how we will salvage a decent season with not only our head coach but key members of our defense being suspended for 3-8 games, or more?

Harper
Greer
Jenkins
Will Smith

And I'm sure quite a few others..
all gone for a few games? All at once?!?!

What ****** me off the most is where is the video evidence of the Saints being dirty? I mean, if our intent was to hurt people wouldn't have we hurt a lot more people? I've seen no evidence of our cheap shots. The bottom line is the league made the Saints the sacrficial lamb for this lawsuit they are going through from former players. That along with Roger's belief Payton lied to him. Wow, does that guy have an ego.
