the VG board football thread (2 Viewers)

You just don't realize that we now have the slowest offense in the NFL and maybe all of football without Bush.

I am bypassing the levee and moving that thread here. I am sure you guys would not mind helping to educate the masses. :ezbill:<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" /><o:p></o:p>

:cheer:

Give them to the VG. Just make them leave when we are done with them.

They have to exit interview and submit to a full body cavity search by the wookie to ensure they haven't stolen anything.

He can dress up in leather and be their dominantrix :9:

Are you suggesting that we bring out The Gimp?

I don't think it was just PR by the Saints. They wanted him back, but only at their number. There was no way they could pay him the $5 mil per year the Dolphins are willing to pay because that would be more than Pierre Thomas, Ingram, Ivory, Colston, etc., etc. are getting. A $5 million contract for Bush would have inflated all their future deals and/or annoyed players who produced more than he does. If Bush would have agreed to an incentive laden deal worth around $2.5 to $3 million per year, he would still be a Saint.

I agree. They would have been happy to have him back at a fairly low salary, but it was pretty obvious that that wasn't going to happen.

I think we are going to miss his speed in certain situations however.

I don't doubt it. I think we will miss it in the passing game, but not so much in the running game. But, I think that Lance Moore will take a lot of Bush's snaps and run a lot of similar routes. Moore does not have Bush's speed obviously, but he does have better hands, or at least better concentration, and his quickness is similar.

I also think that Ingram will surprise us with his ability to catch the ball out of the backfield. We do lose the threat of Bush's big plays, but he had them so seldom and when they did come they generally came in bunches, that I doubt it will hurt us overall. I also think it will force Payton to be more diverse in his third down play calling instead of counting on Bush to squeeze out three yards. I think the offense will be different, but not necessarily better or worse without Bush.

Reggie's lack of production and injury history are obviously Jeff Duncan's fault.

Is it wasn't for Duncan beng a Reggie h8terz he wouldz have been dominate for teh Saints.

Those posts were stupid, but that doesn't change the fact that Jeff Duncan obviously let his personal feelings get involved too much in his reporting. It's amateurish and makes him look like a hack.

I generally believe Duncan to be a hard worker who plays things safe, which is what he's supposed to be. But the tenor of his Reggie stuff didn't match the evenhandedness he showed (and is required to show) otherwise.

Dude is hack. And he's a redneck, which makes anything worse.

I find it strange how many special teams dudes we are pursuing. I know we're up against the cap and special teams needs improving, but we have other needs as well.

I agree. But, I can't help but wonder if Duncan doesn't do it on purpose just to get publicity, hits on Twitter and hits on his video blog. I mean, it's tough making a living as a print reporter these days with all the interwebs reporters and teh Twitters. I see a lot of the Duncan reaction the same as the LSU fans who get  at Glenn Gilbeau for every bad thing he writes about LSU. He's baiting them and they take the bait every time. Still, he should be more professional about it.

But, I didn't know he was a redneck. That changes everything.

Well, we are much less up against the cap now than we were last night, but I think they are pursuing other guys like Cullen Jenkins, Mebane, Sproles and maybe McIntosh, it's just that the market is taking some time to shake out on the bigger guys under the fresh new CBA. Still, I like that we are adding depth and special teams players in the interim. I really hate having to keep around guy like Roby and Troy Evans who basically can only play special teams. I understand why they are necessary, but it would be nice to find a guys who can be special teams aces and who can step in and be a solid starter when you need them to.

Meh, even if he does do it for that reason it still makes him a hack. Get publicity by writing great stuff. Develop some talent and write something interesting. Don't resort to Skip Bayless tactics. By definition, that makes you a hack.

I don't think Duncan is that bad. Yes, the Twitter stuff is dumb and unprofessional, but I think that is the nature of that type of media. Guys are just sending out stream of consciousness stuff and a guy like Duncan isn't built that way. He's a newspaper reporter which means he is used to thinking about a story for a while during the game or during the week, writing it and then having it edited by the paper. Twitter is too immediate and too much freedom for him.

And, I actually think the stuff he writes in the paper is pretty good and that he does a good job on reports from training camp. So, while I don't think he is a great reporter, I don't think "hack" is quite fair. Of course, I think I compare all Saints' reporting to what Kenny Wilkerson did so my standards are pretty low in that regard.

So, in the end, I guess what I'm saying is that you are acting like an L.S.U. fan.

+1

And my favorite post of the day from the SSF:

I hope Reggie finds a renewed sense of porpoise with the dolphins.
