I love me some football, but these studies about ex football player brains are scary. Enjoying watching a human get concussed and break bones for entertainment is a dark road. Roman Colosseum dark. And it's human nature to some extent, but i don't think it's a part of the human nature we need to actively cultivate.
Think about it. We take football injuries for granted. If you got your knee pushed backwards by a car that nudged you at an intersection, you'd be taken away in an ambulance, have surguries, visitors at the hospital with flowers, and likely never walk the same your entire life. Someone has that injury every week in football, and we almost trivialize it because it's so frequent. "Man, another ACL tear. Damn, there goes my fantasy season." Dark road.
Damn, didn't mean to WATS, but that's a scary thought if you think about it.

if that's true, then the nfl hates drew brees. otherwise they wouldn't have let that no-flag-spear go. i hate anyone, and antipop, who hates drew brees. Not to be a downer, but to add to this, there are studies that suggest that ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) is related to the damage that player's brains take from playing football. Apparently, there is a high incident of ALS is former football players. Given the recent news about Steve Gleason, It's a sobering thought that makes me think maybe the NFL really just has to do something about the issue.
I agree that helmet to helmet calls need to be adressed, there is no room for hits like the one dunta robinson had in the eagles game last week, here is the play in question from the game last night, and another play from week one. How are you supposed to play any defense at all if the refs are going to make these calls?I love me some football, but these studies about ex football player brains are scary. I don't think they sweep Detroit, so that's one loss.
packers schedule is kinda weak. here is to hoping lions sweep them, well win at least one, and it would be both unfortunate and fortunate for them to become injury prone and lose to a few other teams..
didn't they put 16 guys on IR last year??
