TIL: Today I Learned... (4 Viewers)

TIL (well, Wednesday) that 30-50% of people have no internal monologue. Mine runs constantly. I mean it never shuts off. I think to turn it off and on would be a blessing. Having a constant inner conversation with yourself many times can lead to rumination. We dwell on the past, and often get stuck there. WE worry about he future and this creates anxiety. These past and future worries make being happy in the moment a challenge,

"Currently, living without an inner voice has no pros or cons. Some reports suggest that having an inner voice can help you organize your thoughts and complete tasks. Conversely, it can also be destructive when our self-talk becomes critical.

On the other hand, people who don’t have an inner speech tend to self-report that, in some ways, it’s helpful. They suggest they don’t have as many self-esteem issues and can block out negative thoughts.

However, they also tend to complain that they often speak without thinking and lack a “filter.” This leads them to say things in different situations that they shouldn’t be saying."

An inner monologue can also be related to Aphantasia, or the inability to create images in one's mind. I have no problem creating images in my mind and a monologue or dialogue to go with them. This can be a blessing and a curse.
I can't even imagine that voice not being there. It would really be nice when I'm trying to fall asleep though.

Well I know THAT, but are horses that agile (in that direction)?
TBH I don't know anything about horses, one stepped on me as a child and I've always been afraid of them.
Horses are dangerous, sure, because of their size but they're not LOOKING to hurt you. As long as we are careful around them and don't startle them and always have proper footwear on, we're fine. They are considered domesticated, not wild, animals.

TIL there are chastity belts for horses. This is Wing Commander, a famous 5 gaited American Saddlebred, in his stall. He's wearing a "stud guard". It is meant to keep the horses from pleasuring themselves as it lowers their spern count and affects their fertility ... and these guys are making the big bucks.

Do they make a small?

I figured everyone had the internal monologue
TBH, I would have a hard time trusting someone who didn't.

I'm not that afraid of them and have ridden a few times since, just leary.
I'm so short and they just tower over me. Blame 1970's bell bottom jeans for my fear, my cousin's horse stepped on my jeans and refused to move. I think my uncle had to save the day.
Such beautiful creatures.

I wish mine would shut the hell up sometimes.
