To Brett Kollman Foskey is a tier 3 edge rusher (1 Viewer)

Amen Brother.
"There is no foul for holding because he played through the hold." :mad1:

Kollman informed? Isn't he basically a blogger. Does he have any scouting or related experience?
He's pretty good, but as mentioned he makes his assessments sort of in a vacuum and sometimes doesn't come off that assessment after the player is set into a system, while his partner on Bootleg tends to look at players in the context they find themselves in.

Interestingly I'm listening to The Athletic draft wrapup podcast right now and they just spent seemingly 10-15 minutes (at about 1:20:00 mark of Day 2 wrapup) talking about how Foskey is exactly right for what the Saints need their edge guy to do, especially the edge opposite Cam Jordan, whereas it would be perfectly understandable were Foskey not even on the board of some teams who want their edge to do something totally different. By the same merit they could see a lot of the smaller edge pass rushers as not even being considered by the Saints because there's no way they could do what would be expected of them.

He’s wrong about Bresee. I was also not high on Bresee because of his challenges, but he has elite tools.

Foskey really just needs to be more creative. Foskey had a bad game vs Ohio state’s two NFL caliber tackles. He doesn’t have elite bend to challenge them on the outside and he doesn’t have elite power also. He’s going to take some time to develop more moves and also his physicality.
I don't think he had a bad game at all vs Ohio State.

He had a few pressures that easily could have been sacks.

Yeah, but he dedicates himself to this. He has knowledge. More than most people on this board.
Dedicates? I have never found his "analysis" to be a whole lot more than just opinion (and he seems to attempt to try to have that "different" opinion at times to draw attention). To each his own, not a fan.

I think it's important to remember that unaffiliated scouts have their own lens. Thus for any prospect you'll get a range of opinions because they all have their own biases, areas of emphasis and view of what 'good' looks like. That's why opinions can vary greatly.

Our scouts have a lens which at the very least is attuned to a set of criteria about what is important for us. Our scouts also have far greater time and resources available to assess prospects.

This does not mean unaffiliated scouts can't be right or that our scouts can't be wrong.

I watched Kollman's reviews and they are informative opinions from which he makes money. I'm glad he and others provide this content as it's interesting and provides a short cut to get a bit more information on so many, many prospects.

His two biggest negative points about these players was that Bresee was absolutely atrocious in stopping the run (feel free to read multiple scouting reports, watch film to see if this was a consistent theme) and Foskey doesn't have enough bend, evidenced by 7.28 3 cone, to be anything more than a complementary guy good for 6-8 sacks per season (again, you can formulate your own view on how true that is).
Foskey has future Robin potential.
Payton Turner has future Batman potential and
Cam is still Batman

The NFL would hire bloggers instead of scouts. But I agree a CFB dedicated blogger > your average Saintsreporter like me

I guess if Brett says it, it must be gospel.

Let's see how it play out on field. I blog as well but I don't get to what tiers prospect are in because anybody can pop if they have the right coaching.
