For what it's worth, the original series only ran three seasons and 79 episodes -- less than half the output for TNG (7/178), Deep Space Nine (7/176), and Voyager (7/172).

And i am a little confused by his methodology … like, starting from the 12 o’clock position, he’d do the fourth person around, then the sixth person ? or like, he would do the one at 4 o’clock, then the one at 6 o’clock, etc ?

Considering how terrible that pilot episode was (and just how meh most of the first season episodes were), it's a real testament to Trekkie fandom that the show continued on to become a great series for 6 seasons after that.

I remember (I think it was Spring 1983) being at a friends house getting ready to go out (probably uptown to Ms Maes or Fat Harrys) and his sister was like this show is really, really good so we started watching, been a fan ever since......
