To get back on track…. Hmm it that was 43 years ago, and I was born in 1969…. 💩

.

But for me when I see a RW movie now I remember the suicide and I wonder how long he had these feelings? Was it back when I saw him on Happy Days? Maybe Mork and Mindy? Either way I can’t watch now without thinking of him killing himself.

Im not sure, but i believe that Robin Williams was diagnosed later in his life with Lewy Body Dementia, and that it was apparently his declining physical and mental state that led to his decision to end his life (fwiw i think assisted euthanasia should be legal everywhere, but that’s another discussion).. so i doubt he was having suicidal ideations whilst performing for you on Mork & Mindy or in Good Morning Vietnam.. although as Guido mentioned, most comedians are tortured souls, so you never know.. but hey, life is complicated and it’s a thin line between hilarity and tragedy , so i just enjoy his performances for what they are- Performances .

I loved that movie!

I don’t think any less of him either. He had a mental illness. For me I see a movie of his now and there is no joy in his acting. I grew up with RW and loved almost all he did. Now I just feel sad seeing his movies because while he was bringing me joy he was suffering.

I think I am explaining this poorly and jacking my own thread. Sorry.
As someone who's fought his own demons and peeked over that cliff, don't feel sad watching his movies.

His genius was the flip side of that sadness coin he carried. That's the part he shared with the world because he wanted them to be happy even if he couldn't. So enjoy his gift if you can because I doubt he wanted you to feel sad for him.
