Trade Derek Carr before the deadline! (1 Viewer)

That’s not going to happen midseason. There’s one chance for trading Carr. I don’t think it would be until after the season. If the Jets who were also interested in him are ready to move on from Rodgers and want to reunite Adams/Carr…I think we could work something out in the offseason. Other than that I hope he’s just a bridge QB to Ward/Sanders/Ewers next year.

If we can get any value, I say do it. I think both Haener and Rattler showed enough that I'd trust them to make things fun for the rest of the year and you'd get a better idea of how high of a priority QB is in the 2025 draft.

That said, I don't think we will move Carr. I don't like his "panic button" tendencies but am fine if he stays.

i don't see it happening. maybe cut during offseason but the cap hit is too high

Yeah I don't see anyone interested in him. As someone else noted, MAYBE the Jets in the offseason if they move on from Rodgers. The profile of a team who would want a midseason trade for him would be a well-coached team that feels it is strong at every position but QB and could make the playoffs if they just had a mediocre QB. Who would fit that description?

Yeah, not happening this year... The next staff will make the decision on DC.... He's (at a minimum) a Vet Bridge QB to the next guy.... Whether that's Spencer, Jake, or even a future drafted QB....

No trade clause and a $50+ million cap hit would come due. Not happening. Carr is here most likely through 2026.
They need to get rid of him in the offseason. It will hurt with the cap, but this team ain't winning anything next year, they need to go ahead and take their medicine. This team needs a culture change as much as anything else, and keeping Derek Carr just perpetuates a culture of losing.

They literally cannot do anything about it. We are $80 million over the cap already and getting rid of him would add $40-$50 million more. It's not happening.
