I just realized Derek Carr got Dennis Allen fired from being a head coach twice that’s got to be some kind of record.

Getting rid of him outright in the offseason would save about $1m, but we likely need the $31m in cap relief we can get by restructuring his contract. That’s what really keeps him around, same as any other player who has had non-guaranteed dollars converted to a restructuring bonus these last few years. They literally cannot do anything about it. We are $80 million over the cap already and getting rid of him would add $40-$50 million more. It's not happening.
If he wants to help the team then he needs to restructure. You cant be mad at him for wanting his either, even if I am not a fan at all of this guy. Looking at all these contracts makes me feel like this is some April Fool's joke. You keep telling yourself nobody really made these offers then you realize we have a Loomis. They literally cannot do anything about it. We can make Carr a receiver and let someone toss floaters over the middle to him.Get him out of here if another team wants him. He lacks the personality to be a leader of men. The only way to overcome that is his play in the field has to be elite and it isn’t.
I know what you're saying. We can save $1 million because we'd be simply trading taking the hit for the prorated bonuses instead of his base. But his base was never going to stay at $30 million. There is no way to get under the cap and get rid of him. His continued cap number kicking is part of the 5 year plan. He is locked here.Getting rid of him outright in the offseason would save about $1m, but we likely need the $31m in cap relief we can get by restructuring his contract. It can be done. They would need to do it before anymore guaranteed money kicks in in March, but then make it a "June 1" cut. The salary savings would be negated by the dead money, and there would still be dead money in 2026, but you immediately get rid of the taint. They literally cannot do anything about it. His $10 million roster bonus was guaranteed last March, so that isn't going away. The post June 1st $30 million in cap savings wouldn't be available until June and we have to do something with it before the league year starts in March. It can be done. Who would want him? Especially with his salary.Am in the only one who would like to see Derek Carr traded away tomorrow? We need to start this house cleaning now. This could happen, but i am not sure anyone would take DC......sadly
If the money worked I'd trade Carr and a 4th for a 7th to get out from under him. But the money does not work. We're stuck with him.Saints Franchise - Has an untradeable asset that no other team wants, or values.
Saints fans - I'd take a 4th rounder for him.
