Mandatory....

if "a lot of coaches" left it voluntary.... why would Rizzi feel it was necessary to make it mandatory?

Maybe Rizzi felt the need to treat them like lil puppies that don't know better. Not saying that DA was a good HC but Rizzi is trying to shake things up, yeah it needs to be but as veteran a team as we are DA expected captains and team leaders to keep players in line as well.
The HC should not HAVE tell PROFESIONAL football players that they have to warm up

A professional football player should KNOW that he has to do warm up stretching. I guess DA should have treated them like children and told them not to put their hands on the hot stove. SMH
A lot of HCs leave things voluntary
This. Imagine how inept it was of Allen to treat the men on his team as responsible professionals dedicated to their livelihoods rather than entitled teenagers who apparently need to be forced to be prepared for their jobs. \s

If you want to blame anyone for this, blame the veterans on the team for not sufficiently setting the example of what it takes to make a living as a professional athlete.

Yes, I expect my coach to tell my professional players to warm up. Just like during my entire football experience. I also expect my strength and conditioning coaches to tell my professional athletes how to improve their fitness... why? because they are professional football players!

AGAIN.... WHY would Rizzi make them mandatory... and the answer was to combat injuries. That is the literal answer to the question. Not a bunch of bull sheet about treating them like puppies.

Why even hire strength and conditioning coaches, when professional football players should just hire their own right? right? am i right? NO.

What the actual Cutlery are yall talking about?

how can you go from smelling your own flowery farts about Penning to being so dense about an entire department dedicated to the fitness of the football team...

I mean they are professionals why even have that department....... RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT.

Are you dense enough to think that DA did not tell them to warm up? That's why there is a portion of practice and pre game dedicated to warm up
Do you also not think that the strength and conditioning coaches are not telling them these things
I like Rizzi but he's doing a lot of things just for shake-up effect. To try and make them do things differently. Believe me just because warm-ups were not voluntary does not mean that players were just standing around and not stretching. Soft tissue injuries around the league are up, must be because HC's are not making warm-ups mandatory

LOL let me guess you must be one of the biggest bench Penning he is a bust , trade him because he'll never be a NFL T. And you can;t admit you were wrong
And as usual you read what you want to read , I said NOTHING about an entire dept. dedicated to the fitness of a football team. But go ahead and keep making stuff up

You are so far up your own arse smelling your self......... I knew you were referencing every person on the board when you were trying to toot your horn... i even typed out a statement saying you really needed receipts.... but I refrained from posting it... till now.

NEVER have I EVER said Penning was a bust... as a matter of FACT, and this is the ONLY thing I ever said about his development.........

The positive... he lacks confidence according to the comment made by his trainer/mentor.(whatever that guy was to him, there is a whole thread dedicated to that tweet)... All he needs is to focus on his technique and that confidence will come and he will develop into a serviceable Right tackle.

People write off OL way too early these days.

I've been saying for a long time, with the way the CBA is written up OL have probably been the biggest victims.

So much to learn coming from college, and most OL need several thousands of reps to start feeling comfortable.

You really can't judge an OL until year 3,
TE's as well.

Although you can see flashes which can give you an idea

any mock draft with saints drafting a tackle early can be thrown in the trash. heck, a LG is not worth the value and we have too much invested in the OL already. We need to be creative at LG and patrick is fine if healthy.

DL (edge and interior), WR, CB, and TE are all much higher needs.
BPA will always be the most productive strategy regardless of need.

It has been historically proven, no matter the team.

Penning has improved every week. He's some much better than he was in the pre-season. He still has occasional lapses but, at this point, the good play to bad play ratio is exponentially better on the good side.

This team has needs everywhere whether it be a need to upgrade to starters or depth. They should go BPA and it will inevitably fill a need.

Even at OT, if a stud LT is there that you think is better than Fuaga, you can draft that LT and let him battle it out with Fuaga. The winners starts and LT and the loser starts at LG.

Yup, offensive line is critical to everything.....a great offensive line is crucial to balance and TOP, can rest your defenders if the run game is consistent....

BPA at a variety of positions this go around, reaching for needs typically doesn't work out well....
