32 teams could have made Peat their starting left tackle, yet none d 31 of them haven't had the chance since he was drafted.
31 one of them haven't had the chance since he was drafted. Try again.

Leader for the most ridiculous post of the daySeems like they are wasting a lot of valuable practice time messing about with no plan. Typical of a team with a bad head coach.
LOL Duh. of course if we had Roaf or Armstead @ LT. They were/are a known commodity. And yes we are doing the smart thing by cross-training almost EVERYONE on the OL for lots of different reasons. Even if it;s kinda close between TF and TP @ LT it's better to keep TP @ LT and TF @ RT because it would be better not to have 2 starters not learning new positions one being a rookie along with maybe having a redshirt rookie stating @ LG all playing a new system just for cohesiveness sakeI think that's the realistic view. If it were Penning's spot, Fuaga wouldn't be trying out on the left side. If it were Willie Roaf or even Terron Armstead on the left side, he'd be working out purely at RT. That's just reality. We're not hearing any semblance of this occurring at right guard or center despite Ruiz likely playing out of position. He's still good enough at right guard that the spot is his. The staff recognizes that's not true for Penning. So while it's not his to lose, he's being given a chance to earn a spot at left tackle or right tackle. That's the reality. I hope wins the spot, but it's currently not his.
The Saints are doing the smart thing. With no clear cut veteran to play left tackle (or left guard and right tackle), we're going to see players trying out all over the place until they find the best player to play each position. Contrary to a view expressed by someone in this thread, that's exactly how they should be doing it. I only wish it extended to center and right guard.
Yes it's Duke Manyweather's camp. Nick said he talked to Duke and said he's was doing well. Duke also inferred without coming out and saying that maybe Marrone was not the type of OL coach for TPI don't subscribe to NOF, but don't I recall a thread about one of Nick's articles that Penning had been working out with a well renown offensive line guru and the Saints were impressed with his progress?
OK but Penning's RAS score was better than bothYou heard it here first, Trevor will look eons better at RT. Triplet talks about it on the pod how Peat couldn't play RT but he also forgets the failed experiment at RG when Jahri left. Peat just couldn't get right on the right side of the line. It's very possible that Penning's coordination improves on the right side
Meanwhile when I look at Fuaga, I did a quick comparison to Penei Sewell. Fuaga has a better RAS, but I don't think he has the updside that Sewell has. What I do see is that he has better feet than Sewell. Sewell has to get that thick lower half moving, Fuaga is a bit slimmer in the lower half and he mirrors better, but not with same anchor. IMHO he has the feet of a LT, despite the lack of traditional length.
He should handle quicker rushers better, and we know he can because he shut down Laiatu Latu
His balance ain’t tho :/OK but Penning's RAS score was better than both
Everytime people on here post RAS scores, I laugh hysterically. Give me your 40 time, Stats, and tape and I'll tell you if you can play.OK but Penning's RAS score was better than both
40 time means nothing for an O lineman. And coaching probably matters more than stats and tape. With good coaching ( which our entire OL has had none of for 2yrs ) Stats and tape can improve.Everytime people on here post RAS scores, I laugh hysterically. All signs point to the team still believing in him as he's going to be given every chance to earn that role back.
I was speaking about skill players, for lineman substitute 40 times for bench. Stats and videotape especially are very good indicators. I want to see what you do against other players and what caliber/level they were.40 time means nothing for an O lineman. And coaching probably matters more than stats and tape. EJW yours is an opinion that I respect. Everything I have read and heard indicates that most of TP's issues have been either due to injury and not getting enough work or to bad coaching, Marrone in particular. I've heard quite a few people say that Marrone was not the right coach for TP. Even Duke Manyweather alluded to that with out coming out and saying it outright. He indicated that some of the nastiness and aggressiveness was coached out of TP, That he was thinking instead of reacting. I don't care where on the OL he plays, LT, RT or even G but I think his best chance this yr is the position he has always played , LT. I have said this before but i think the TP everyone will see this yr is not the guy you saw last yr. Therefore maybe comparing him to last yr is premature working under Manyweather, Benton and DennisonHis balance ain’t tho :/
And my point is I want to see what a player does with competent to good coaching because Penning, and the whole OL has not had it in over 2 yrsI was speaking about skill players, for lineman substitute 40 times for bench. My system works, every year we do draft analysis around here and every year, I more right than wrong on the players. I was the first person here to notice Werner was not that good, in fact if you read my draft review the year he and the other players that were drafted with him, I'm right about each one of them. And my point is I want to see what a player does with competent to good coaching because Penning, and the whole OL has not had it in over 2 yrs
