Watching the first episode now. not a bad start.
Edit: I hate the "make them think a main character is dead" stuff.. when they know we all know they didn't kill them.

This is a pretty common trope though, not just on The Walking Dead. How many times in act 3 of a movie do we see the hero go off a cliff or ledge only to climb up seconds later (Last Crusade anyone?). It's not that you think they are dead, or at least you shouldn't, it's the narrative tool of making you wonder how they will get out of this situation.

The exception of course is Glenn and the dumpster which was rather dumb.

I bit and tuned in after missing the last 3 seasons. Gotta say it's back into the usual formula. I tuned out when they launched into the hanging chad storyline of will she kill Negan or won't she. I mean come on. The story should have opened with Mags seeing Negan and causally walking up to him and putting one round between his eyes. Her line "One less mouth to feed..."
Of course without Negan its a repeat of every season since the Governor.

I liked it, was a solid start. The Commonwealth stuff is of the most interest to me.

That was another pretty good watch. Solid action and exposition. Daryl and Dog kicking arse, funny Eugene stuff...and about to get much more interesting with Reapers and the Commonwealth.

Something happened that ep. 2 didn't record Sunday. Can't remember now what it was. Idaknow. Anyway, so we got TWO epis to watch this Sunday so we got that going for us.

I got to see the last 30 minutes Sunday night on the later airing plus the 15 minutes of commercials.

The Daryl prison stuff is tired, but at least added to the story.
