Two other middle linebacker options besides Zaven Collins at 28: Jayson Oweh and Joseph Ossai (1 Viewer)

If this is correct then Devin White and Martez Wilson are tied for the fastest times for a MLB in combine history at 4.42.

"Only three inside linebackers — Martez Wilson (4.42, 2011), Mychal Kendricks (4.44, 2012) and Gerald McRath (4.49, 2009) — ran faster than a 4.5."

Oweh is even faster than that.

He also tied White's agility and vertical benchmarks.

Imagine a cross between Urlacher and White.

Oweh's arms are even longer than Urlacher's (33") at 34.5".

It's time to break that curse of never drafting LSU.

I want to see Jabril Cox in a Saints uniform.
The only thing that I like about bigger guys like Collins, Oweh, and Ossai is that they have more size and strength to take on and shed blocks because they weigh 23-30lbs more than a guy like Cox at 233.

But don't get me wrong.

I love Cox too.

What did that cop tell Lattimore about the gun in his waistband?

Here's another LB we can take a look at on the second day of the draft if we can't get what we want on day 1.

Garret Wallow- LB, 6'2"/230#, 4.65-40, Bench- 22 reps., Vertical-32.5", 10-yd split- 1.64, 20-yd split- 2.68, Shuttle- 4.12, 3-Cone- 6.87.

Wallow is a hard-charging LB with average size and play speed. He's instinctive, flows pretty good to the ball and uses his hands well. He's fluid flipping his hips in transition, he gets good depth on pass drops and keeps the play in front of him. He shows a burst of speed firing upfield to defend the run. Squares up and wraps up tackling. He can effectively QB the defense from what I've watched of him on tape.
He's not super fast for a smaller LB and shows some indecision in coverage, but you can be coached up and become better in coverage, it's something that can be fixed.
All in all, I believe from I've seen, Wallow is an instinctive LB who lacks the physical skills to be a star, but he possesses the smarts and ability to be a solid starter in the right scheme.

Wasn't 100%, but they really liked his proday. Even had a coach working him out doing drills.
Yeah, I was hoping for just a little bit more. But they were still very strong numbers.

That might be a good thing. If his numbers were stronger, we might have no chance of getting him in the 2nd.

Like I said earlier.

Wallow, Oweh, And Barret Browning were the only 3 defenders to post 4.2 or better shuttle times and a sub-7.00 3 cone time.

Guys like Urlacher, Kuechly, and Devin Wite all accomplished that rare feat.

It's worth noting that Both Rashad Weaver and Shaka Toney also came close but didn't quite get at 4.2 or under 7.00 respectively.

Sorry.

Nick Niemann also accomplished that feat this year.

He's a sleeper coverage linebacker who also had at least 7 tackles in every game in 2020 and even had a 17 tackle game last year vs Penn State.

Keep an eye on Buddy Johnson, Wallow and Niemann late.

Oweh even had a slightly faster 40 and better 3 cone, shuttle and vertical than Deion Jones did at 221 lbs.

Deion Jones ran a 4.38.

That's astounding. Deion running that fast in the first place was astounding. I remember the shock I felt when I saw his numbers. It's even more astounding that Oweh ran even faster.

I thought you told me in a previous thread that Bellicheck was sure to draft someone just like this guy. New England picks #15. How does he get past them?

There's no way we get our hands on Oweh. Not unless we're trading up to get him. Way up. I still think we go CB in 1 and LB in 2.

Just my grossly inexpert armchair fan wannabe GM opinion.

Saints lost their 2nd and 3rd leading receiving threats/options in both yardage and TDs from last season... I'm going to be completely floored if they don't address that in the 1st or 2nd round. While I think CB is probably a bigger priority (mostly due to the Lattimore situation) - It's not that much bigger.
