Tyrann Mathieu's personal foul on the 2 pt conversion (1 Viewer)

  1. When the passer goes outside the pocket area and either continues moving with the ball (without attempting to advance the ball as a runner) or throws while on the run, he loses the protection of the one-step rule provided for in (a) above, and the protection against a low hit provided for in (e) above, but he remains covered by all the other special protections afforded to a passer in the pocket (b, c, d, and f), as well as the regular unnecessary roughness rules applicable to all player positions. If the passer stops behind the line and clearly establishes a passing posture, he will then be covered by all of the special protections for passers.
Thank you for this.

I wasn't sure if the QB was treated like any other player outside the pocket when behind the line of scrimmage since they have other protections, but that clears it up.

I still say he only took one step, though, so the call was doubly wrong. :hihi:

I think Bill nailed it. He did nothing against the rules other than it was a hard hit. I’d like to know what he did that was as considered roughing.

It was total BS. Only the call from upstairs saved us there.
And that was BS to take that long to call Godwin out of bounds. I saw Adebo point right away after the catch that Godwin was out of bounds. I kept waiting for the announcers to acknowledge that Godwin may have been out first but nothing!

I told my wife that there was illegal touching. Adebo even pointed it out to the ref, but no flag was thrown. I thought they were going to burn us again.

Might not have been obvious to fans on here and people who don't know or want to acknowledge the rules but it was a late hit if not by mathieu you had another player right there about to deliver a late hit.
Like I said. It was close and they never showed replay in real time. In real time, it could have gone either way.
