Tyrann Mathieu's personal foul on the 2 pt conversion (2 Viewers)

And that was BS to take that long to call Godwin out of bounds. I saw Adebo point right away after the catch that Godwin was out of bounds. I kept waiting for the announcers to acknowledge that Godwin may have been out first but nothing!
And Greg Olsen said there were no flags. There were flags from the phantom unnecessary roughness call.

Because he hit him too hard.
I am going to apologize ahead of time for this picture, but I am still going to post it. :hihi:

Baker Mayfield, moments before the hit.

I'll see myself out.

I was driving today and had to isten to the Bucs radio call on TuneIn. They were actually talking about Honey Badger being possibly ejected for the hit. I haven’t seen it, but when is a rib shot grounds for ejection?

Also, while listening to them for most of the game was annoying, it was a bit satisfying hearing them upset as time wound down. Especially with all of the turnovers

The facemask on Breese was legit. Grab any part of the helmet and that gets called. The call against Adebo was absurd. The Mathieu hit is a judgement call. If the ref doesn't throw the flag there, then the NFL isn't protecting players.
Disagree …..
Bresee only touched the crown of the helmet. The ref said it was a facemask penalty.
By league rule, it shouldn’t have been called.

The refs don’t follow that rule anyway. It says that “if he doesn’t immediately release it” then it’s a penalty. They throw flags if you just brush it with your hand.

Can anyone shed some light on why his hit on Baker was a personal foul?

I saw one step and Mathieu's shoulder to Baker's upper torso.

It feels like yet another BS personal foul call against the Saints.
I thought the same thing. It look like Mathieu push him with his hand. Either that or I'm going blind.

Mayfield looked committed to run and then flicked it at the last split-second. Not sure what they want/expect Matthieu to do.
Nearly the same thing happened in our first game against them when Shepherd cleaned out Baker as he was running up to the LOS inside our 10 before flicking a TD to Otton. Shepherd caught nothing but shoulder pad but while Baker was scrambling, he technically was still in the pocket.

They need to re-write that rule that if a QB is running towards the LOS whether he's inside the tackle box or not, he needs to lose that 1-step passer privilege.
Adebo pointed down at the out of bounds as soon as the two point reception was caught.
Really great awareness by Adebo not only of the play, but also the understanding of the rule as well.

Highly reminiscent of the 2012 game in Tampa Bay where the Buccaneers thought they just scored a potential game tying TD as time expired only for Mike Williams to be flagged for illegal touching when Patrick Robinson pushed him out the back of the endzone after Josh Freeman broke the pocket.
If a punter outside the tackle box can be mauled while kicking the ball then so can a QB who's committed to the run then changed his mind.
:100:

remember that bruise on favre's thigh after the saints playoff game ? may Baker's be comparable.
