UEFA Champions League (6 Viewers)

game on - 0-1 RM

looks like i might get most of match - sophmores are at some grizzly safe driving demo and fac meeting probably doesn't start until 3:30 (which almost certainly means this is going to PKs and i won't be able to watch)
im starting to get the feeling that City = Pels and RM = Lakers in this rivalry lol.

let's not be too quick to absolve Kane - too much evidence at this point :p

the thing that separates Arsenal for me is they NEED this both for CL and domestic - they let a huge chance slip through their fingers this weekend and will be doubly motivated (i would think)
for Bayern it feels more like a consolation prize especially losing a league title that had come to be seen as a birthright (obviously that could be its own motivation, but *shrug*)

FINALLY saw full highlights and i think Cancelo's foul was the real loser - just hella dumb for no reason - and i'm going to lay that on Xabi - his antics ratcheted up the tension on his team. he keeps his cool and Joao might not slide tackle going away from goal

As an Arsenal fan, I think winning would definitely represent a big step forward for the club, but at the same point just getting in the the CL Quarters and being in it with Bayern is a big step up over the last 6 to 8 years. As far as the league goes, it is and always was Man City's title to lose and it will remain that way until Pep leaves City, barring just having a magical year where everything goes right for a team. The key will be who is in the position to win the league when Pep steps down but before Man City buys the next great manager and team. Right now, to quote Arsene Wenger, getting top 4 is like a trophy.

But, I'm not sure that I'm the typical Arsenal fan since I didn't start following them until their glory days were over.

but

doesn't it feel like an equalizer is ready?

but they might have to adjust Haaland - pull him away from goal and give everyone more space

De Bruyne. 80th.

RM still in defensive shell- so now lookin to take to ET/PK possibly? i hate the prevent d. simply cant do for 45 min. Play your style

MC have been on front foot entire half. So much pressure applied to RM. Exciting stuff.

Doku for MC doesnt have legs.

he has tree stumps.

good grief.

RM - they are some steely dudes. Advance in PK over MC.

In the meeting I had my phone just showing live updates but I was able to hear whole pk in car
Haven’t seen replays but Silva’s seemed liked the big oopsie
Right down the middle. Can’t recall if it was Thierry on the post game show but he said he thought Silva might have had an idea for a panenka that didn’t come off. IDK. I haven’t watched the replay enough but my thought was he was expecting the keeper to dive left or right and Lunin just read it well and waited.

just watched it
If it works you look like a cold blooded killer
If not, a complete doofus

Just finished watching both games - with quite a bit of fast forward.

After 10 goals yesterday, I’m glad I went to go the pub yesterday instead. Arsenal and Bayern was pretty much a snoozer, maybe I missed the intricacies.

I thought City was quite a bit better on the run of things - had so many more chances, but just couldn’t convert. That big miss from KDB right after he scored the equalizer in the second half was probably the one they’ll think about more than anything.

And hats off of Luka Modric going the full distance and extra time at 38 and a half years old. What a career he’s had

That miss are the ones you see and immediately think " oh boy, that miss will come back to bite" in games of this magnitude. Its almost like its preordained in that if you miss on a gift like that, you are gonna pay for it. Shoot, even tenured announcers recognize and comment on those at times. They had other chances, but nothing like that one.

Credit to RM for absorbing that MC attack for over 60 min and pulling out a victory in PK.
