Ukraine (43 Viewers)

I hope this is BS.

There should be zero talk of resetting things with Russia until 2 basic things happen. One, Russia must withdraw from all territories based on the 2014 borders before their first offensive. And two, Russia has new leadership and Putin is a goner. Until at least one, and preferably both of those thing happen, there should be zero talk of normalizing relations with Russia. Ukraine should remain an ally and as part of the EU and NATO if they so choose.

Also, I wouldn't read too much into this. I tend to think it's more disinformation than anything else.

The reaction to that Politico article is over the top. Giving consideration to future relations with Russia is prudent. The US is not at war with Russia.

Technically...no. But practically, of course they're at war. The US and NATO and the EU have openly been supporting Ukraine for a while now. That that's entirely because of Poot's decision to invade Ukraine. Until Russia withdraws from Ukraine, there's nothing to talk about with them.

There's nothing to consider with Russia until they stop with the SMO nonsense.

That true but it’s also a proxy war for a reason and keeping those lanes in-tact is important . . . unless the policy becomes to no longer be proxy. But escalation is obviously unpredictable and highly dangerous.

Certainly, and I think without nukes Russia wouldn't be in this position to begin with.

Ukraine has done a lot, including hitting Russian airfields and other military targets in Russian territory and Russia's response on the battlefield has been old school throw as many soldiers as possible at it and hope they win a war of attrition, but they're finding out that isn't going to lead to any sort of favorable outcome.

They've done a lot of sabre rattling and threatening nukes, yet it's been proven to be empty words.

Certainly not saying we shouldn't proceed carefully, just saying we shouldn't normalize relations with Russia until they pull out of Ukraine and better yet, Poots is out of the picture.

Of course not, but Russia still needs to believe there's a chance of normalcy and winning. They were already in steep population decline and might be done because of the losses.

If they see no way back, maybe they decide to take the world out with them.
