I've seen reports of this being a large unmanned drone rather than an Su-25. Possibly one they had lost contact with.

My first thought was it was a pilot trying to defect. Only thing I wonder about is why he'd be flying that high. It's tough to make sense of this.

Not giving them a pass either but I understand the non-action. You and I have ready access to social media across any platform we wish. They don't. They've been fed propaganda for so long that they only believe one thing...everyone is out to get russia and they are justified in anything they do, their people are dying for a just cause, for the motherland. Imagine if our internet access was throttled...no YouTube, no twitter, no FB, etc. and the only voices we heard were the ones that the govt wanted us to hear. Would you know the truth if, for the last 50 years, the only news station we had was Newsmax? Or OAN? And those were the only way you got your world news? They have been oppressed for so long, they don't know what freedom is. And I'm not talking about the more modern populations in Moscow or St Pete or any of the other large cities. It's the millions of people in places like Siberia. Where they don't even have indoor plumbing. We can't imagine what it's like because we have always been a free democracy and get to hear/read everything, even the crazy arse sheet.

Again, I hear you, but I’ve been there and spent a lot of time there, and they’re not as disconnected and clueless as you may think, even in the outer regions.

At some point, you get the government you deserve, and the government they have is a reflection of how forked up they are as a people. This is nothing new when it comes to Russia. Not by many hundreds of years. There is a deep defect in their humanity.

Thanks Dave. One can see what is falling from the sky.

Now I understand the discussion that it was a flying wing kind of "stealth" drone. (except that since it was made with Aluminum and rivets, it isn't a stealth thing at all.)

It kind of looks like the stealth flying wing bombers we have from the outside. Being a drone is ideal for a flying wing. No human without computer assistance can reliably handle a flying wing. It's a job a drone can do better than a human. Humans don't react fast enough.

Yeah, either way, it's a huge loss for Russia, not to mention it being in Ukraine's hands. It's a mess, but probably intact enough for Ukraine to reverse engineer it to build their own.
