Was Jesus a socialist? (4 Viewers)

So that was the point of this thread... you wanted to play gotcha with religious conservatives? You know behind the words on the screen there is a real person that you could have real conversation with if you wanted. Welcome to Saintsreport btw.

So only religious people can start threads about religion? The point I made is still valid, me being an atheist doesn't just dissmiss anything I've said. I didn't say anything offensive towards religion nor conservatives.

Note what socialism is. A system where the state or collective community dictates the distribution of goods.

What is Jesus said is for the man to change his heart in a completely voluntary action of love towards others. The man chose not to and Jesus let him walk away.

How is it voluntary if you're threatened with hell? Jesus said it's basically impossible for a rich man to get into heaven.

if you're an atheist, why are you so concerned with people following the teachings of Christ?
why don't you go outside with a megaphone or something?

I do follow the teachings of Christ, every moral person does. A lot of his teachings are universal truths, I just don't believe he was the son of God. I also follow the teachings of many others.

the eye of the needle was actually in all probability a gate to the city of Jerusalem. it was possible, but very difficult. that's the extent of my knowledge on this subject.

Is it possible for a camel to go through the eye of a needle

The eye of the needle is a narrow gate. He's trying to form a picture of a rich man having to shed himself of much baggage before entering heaven. That said, don't be so narrow yourself. This thread is clearly an attempt at trolling. Pretty boring and lame.

I am sorry if I offended anyone, I didn't mean to. I know religion is a touchy subject and maybe I shouldn't have posted a thread about it

it is a subject that is discussed often here. it's just that the topic you felt the need to create a thread for has been discussed ad nauseum.

I think you misread what I said. You can start whatever thread you want (though they might get moved behind the levee). I question your motives for starting this thread because you weren't conversing, you were hammering whatever point you were here to make without even responding to anyone else's points and questions. A one sided conversation get's old quick. Many people shot down the premise of your question of whether Jesus was a socialist but you seem dogged with determination to pick a fight... jmo.

I've heard and read that, but it is also a bit sketchy and probably not true, because of the astonishment of the disciples at his statement.

What Jesus did say is in response to the disciples question "Who then, can be saved?" was "With man it is impossible, but with God all things are possible."

I could be wrong. Wouldn't be the first time. I think I learned that at Jesuit, though.:idunno:
