Watches (2 Viewers)

I'd like to stay below $500, and I know that severely limits the selection.. I figure there are still some nice options available at that price though..

I'd like a Tag as well, but that's out of the price range..

There are major deals on TAG watches on the internet. Don't be afraid to get used or buy a later model year. I've worn TAGs for years and love them. They're bullet proof and you can get a plain stainless quartz TAG for probably what you're looking to spend.

I'm not much of a watch snob, but even I know enough to know that Tags are garbage.

My watch and several of it's friends hate you.

Here it is flipping you off in watch language!

I ended up getting this Bulova watch for Christmas.. It's nice, but plain, which is something I wanted.. Now that I look at it, the design is very similar to the Seiko I have already..

I'm in the school of thought that watches are obsolete and used only for showing off, so if I wear a watch I'm going all out

Not the exact one but I got one very similar from Switzerland

I have the Emperio Armani AR1400 Ceramica. $545.00 at Dillards, but now you can find it cheaper at other stores. Very classy watch. They also have it with the gold numerals and hands but Im not into gold so silver looks good to me

If you like Swiss watches like TAG, then I suggest looking at the Swiss watch company called Tissot. They make amazing watches are are very well priced, they carry good weight, look and feel like something much more expensive.

I choose the Tissot PRS 330 in Black/Yellow as my daily watch. It came with the black rubber strap as is shown here.

You can buy this watch all day long for $270.00.

Guys, What Does Your Watch Say About You?

It’s no secret that men wear watches as a fashion. Ok so watches tell time as well, but for centuries, a man’s watch says more about his personality and fashion sense than most any other accessory. Yes, accessory, deal with it. So what does your watch say about you? Here’s a quick guide to men’s watches and their meaning.

Timex: you’re practical and no-nonsense kind of guy. For you, it’s your fashionable non-fashion statement. I’m not pretentious like those jerks who wear expensive watches and the money I saved on not buying an expensive watch I made an extra mortgage payment on my house. Do you know you can pay your house off in half the time you if many an extra payment a year?

Sports watch: I’m a competitor. After I leave this meeting, I’m going a mile swim, 20 miles bike ride and then run a 10k. If you don’t how far a 10k is that’s because you are a lazy lardbutt and not a stud athlete like me.

Wide-band design watches. I’m cool. Look at my wide leather band and hey, that’s a cool watch attached to that band, and it’s big too. Look at it. Look at it! I know you can’t keep from staring at it because it’s so freaking big. I’m cool, ain’t I.

Leather band Swiss watches.
I’m sophisticated. While I could afford something made from gold, I chose to pair this incredible Swiss time piece with an understated leather band. Rich but not nuveaux rich.

Rolex: I’m successful. Sales people love to wear gold Rolexes. Makes them feel superior to other sales guys who can’t afford them. I says “I’m good at what I do. Look at my expensive Rolex.” Unless it’s a fake from China and then you’re just a poser who wants people to think you are successful. But hey, you’re in sales.

No watch: I’m organic. I don’t need a watch to tell the time, my iPhone does that for me. I choose to wear a bracelet made of natural fibers from a tree in the Amazon I helped saved when I make a Kiva loan to the tribesman who started a business making these cool bracelets I now wear.

Post your favorite watch brands and styles here.. I'm thinking about asking for a new one for Christmas and would like to see what's out there..

Any watch afficionados on the EE?

you are at an age that commands a grown man's watch. spend the money and get a Rolex.

So anyone paying attention to the Rolex used market lately?

I have no clue what is happening, but its absolutely insanity.

I have a 2004 Submariner ( no date ) that i purchased new from Adlers for $4500. Used is going for $10k.

And if you have either Sea Dweller or Daytona...pssshhhh that thing worth $30-40k right now.

I’m bored and I want to revive SR Watch talk. lately I’ve been thinking it’s time to buy a new watch. I’ve got several watches but my main watch is a Longines Conquest Chrono.

I totally dig this watch but it’s a quartz and I want to add an automatic to my collection. I also have other watches like a 30 yo Casio ProTrek (1st gen) that Miyako gave me before we got married. I also have a pocket watch that my great grandfather gave to my GrandPa for his high school graduation. That was handed down to me just before my Grandpa passed.

So now I think I want a more luxurious piece. I’m currently looking at watches from Breitling, Sinn, Omega, and Rolex. What are your thoughts on these timepieces. Which would you buy or do you have other recommendations?

The Breitling Navitimer B01 Chronograph
https://www.breitling.com/us-en/watches/navitimer/navitimer-b01-chronograph-46-my22/AB0137211C1/

The classic Navitimer with the in house B01 movement. It’s just a damn good lookin’ watch and fits with my aviation past.

The Breitling Navitimer B02 Cosmonaute Chronograph
https://www.breitling.com/us-en/watches/navitimer/navitimer-b02-chronograph-41/PB02301A1B1/

The biggest difference here is that the Cosmonaute has a 24 hours face. It was commissioned by Astronaut Scott Carpenter for the Mercury Aurora 7 spaceflight. This is the first wrist watch to go to space. This is also a hand wound watch, not an Automatic.

Sinn 900 Pilot
https://www.sinn.de/en/Modell/900_PILOT.htm

This German watch is just cool IMO. It’s another aviation watch but the slide rule is integrated into the dial face and is adjusted with the knob on the left side. It’s the most affordable option.

Omega Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch
https://www.omegawatches.com/en-us/...-chronometer-chronograph-42-mm-31030425001001

The official spaceflight watch. Breitling might have been there first but Omega went to the moon. It’s kinda plain but its history is unquestionable.

Rolex Cosmograph Daytona Oyster Steel

My favorite Rolex. The big problem is the $14000 price and the ability to actual get one.

Omega Speedmaster Professional Silver Snoopy Award

THIS is the watch I really want. Unfortunately it is always sold out. The retail is $9600 but I regularly see it on the used market at $28K or more. It’s a great looking Speedmaster with interesting changes honoring NASA’s Silver Snoopy safety award.

And yes, I did buy it from JC Penney, and yes it is a real Citizen. YMMV, but I managed to haggle the price down to $180.00.

You can haggle at JC Penney ? Im not even sure if JCP is even in existence anymore since this post from 13 yrs ago, but i never realized that bartering was a thing there , or at any department store .
