We just willingly let MIKE EVANS go into the record book versus us? (14 Viewers)

Did the Saints even know about the record? Not making an excuse, just wondering,
The entire stadium was chanting for it since the play that became the Bucky Irving TD.

The Bucs blitzed Rattler on second, third, and fourth down after he moved the ball a bit.

They called a timeout to run a different play.

They absolutely knew.

Not quite a superbowl celebration they saving that for later. Tampa cared WAY more about it that's for sure. Kinda embarraso Gatorade dump kinda stuff I'd expect from the Mike Evans crowd but really a so what from most people.

People attaching their egos to it is why.

I don't think it has anything to do with egos. You can think Mike is a great, be happy for him, congratulate him - to each their own. I'd say you're probably in the minority. Saints fans hate the guy. He's been an absolute heel for the past decade. Rivalries are fun. Letting your rival get free accolades is just really bizarre and not something anyone would expect to see. It's not thing to not field a competitive team. But to not show fight versus someone who hasn't shown respect to this team ever? Yeahhhh that's super soft. Just like Dennis Allen apologizing to the Falcons was.

What kind of soft behavior is this? We're that much of a nice guy team that we're letting rivals just casually go out and feed someone a catch to chase a record? How are we doing anything but putting our entire defense on him?

I don't care about his bonus and I don't care about his record. That's actually disgusting that we didn't deny that catch.

With you 100%. If the Bucs are foolish enough to risk injury, and an interception or fumble that could lose them the game and cost them a playoff berth, then make them pay. Put 11 guys on Evans, I don’t care if the score a 70yrd TD to any other player, but you don’t just lay down and let Evans of all people get that record against you.

I don't like Mike Evans. He's a rival. He's been the center of a lot of on field scuffles between these two teams. I think it's insane to lay down in that situation.

I wasn't really paying much attention to the play. Did they actually let him get it or did they play it like they normally would instead of putting 3 guys on him?

If they played it straight up I get why. You play the game with integrity and if he gets it he gets it.

I personally am petty and I would have kept knocking him down at the line with three guys. But I get why professionals might not do that.

Yeah it's actually gross. Mike freaking Evans. Wow. Zero pride man, zero pride.

Crying this much about a play that was completely 100% irrelevant to the outcome is soft.

In fact it's embarrassing. I'm getting 2nd hand embarrassment from this thread.

Playing it normally is letting him get it, considering the circumstance. Kneeldowns end it. Every defender knew they were not going ANYWHERE else with the football. Covering anyone else on that side of the field was a crime.

Bucs lined up in trips with Evans in the slot I think. Basically ran a pick against the 2 Saints defenders that were up

Great! Perhaps go write Mike a congratulations letter since you're so happy for "one of the greats"? Lmao.
